Same old but still worth playing.
User Rating: 7.5 | Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants PC
Although it almost identical to other Port Royal and Patrician titles it is still a lot of fun to play. I do not want to call it a clone because there are some improvements from previous versions like the sea combat or graphics. It has a standard economical production system and same sandbox feel as Patrician or PR2. The lack of any new developments in terms of quests is concerning. I just hope in the future they will add more original (updated?) quests, more extensive combat system and perhaps even an RPG element so the genre doesn't grow stale. The economy engine is absolutely fantastic as usual. I think the z-sum system for economics is the way to go for RTS. I'm not sure how much input does the developer allow from gamers but I hope they start improving and innovating more. The game is definitely worth playing but it is not anything new or innovative by a long shot.
