Good idea.....but boring.
If you can read japanese and understand everything.... you might enjoy this game a bit more.
At first, you can chose from 2 characters. A male and a female character....and then.... just explore the island. Yes...just explore it. Find routes, objects, items, take pictures....but all you do is exploring. I didn't play the game much because it was too boring... but I'm sure there's more depth than I can explain. But I still can't think that it'd help much.
Interesting: it's real time. The game gets the time assigned into your PSP and makes the game run at the same time....real time.
There're some extras interesting things about it too. Like a hawaiian type of musical instrument (i forgot the name of it). You play with the analog stick and the PSP buttoms. You can also use the PSP as a radio alarm clock. Of course the radio is not real but it plays some tropical songs. Or just use the PSP as somthing to stare at in your desk, since you can make Portable Island to be a clock with 3D scenary of your island been shown on the screen.
The graphics are not that inpressive. In fact, that's not a new game, so don't expect much about graphics. But it does it's job.
The sound is pointless. No music. Just the sound of the nature, baby.
Playability is slow. Your character is slow in all aspects. Turning, walkin, ruinning....
All and all, Portable Island is a game for collectors. Just to show peoples and say "do you have this game? I have!". Because this game is useless....
