Best sequel to a game (in my opinion)

User Rating: 9.5 | Portal 2 X360
Now when I first heard about the release of Portal 2, in all honesty I wasn't that bothered. This will be because I had never played the first one. One night in I decided that I would download the game from the Xbox live marketplace. Within the first 10/15 minutes I had fallen in love. The witty remarks and confusing game play were just the sort of thing that I had wanted in a video game. Now after completing the first one way too many times, i got myself excited for the arrival of Portal 2. I had to read up on the game to see which new features will be coming to me.
Now in all honesty in the first couple of days of owning the game I had completed story mode about 5 times and completed every single online map. This just proves how much of a hit the game was with me. The campaign is without doubt the 2nd best storyline I have ever seen in a game, and the most fun I have ever had completing.
The campaign takes place where the story left off in the first game. I won't tell the story as it will spoil it for those who have yet to play it. I will say that the campaign added so many new features to the portal franchise which improved it much more. The addition of the different gels for example as this gave the already different and confusing gameplay an added extra to make it a little bit more confusing. This gave the gameplay so much more and made you stop and think. That is what I like in games and we don't get that any more. There are no hints in portal it is all thought out by you and you alone. The script is still witty and humorous and the Voice of Stephen Merchant is massive extra (i thought).
The addition of a multiplayer mode was great idea, which paid off well. When I first heard about it, honestly I didn't think it would work very well but once I experienced it I realised how wrong I was. The fact that you and a friend can play together makes Portal so much enjoyable. I personally found it a challenge when playing a with a friend, as we ended up competing to see how could figure out the puzzle first and be labelled a genius (of course I always won). Even if you don't have friends you can still find another player online who is also there for you to outsmart. I have recently found myself playing this game with my girlfriend and honestly it is a lot more enjoyable and frustrating when playing with someone you want to be better then, as I seem to find myself getting annoyed when simple commands aren't followed and when I figure out puzzles before she can.
In summary I would recommend this game to anyone. it is just a perfect game for any occasion. Either playing with friends at home/online or just something to play alone. The Story mode is superb and the multiplayer is very enjoyable. Now I only hope Valve gives us another instalment to this outstanding franchise.
