Forgotten Sands is a good game, especially if you are a fan of the series.
Graphics:
I was really surprised with the graphics. I was expected less then what I got, which is always a bonus. The Princes movements when he is scaling walls, or wall running, slicing down banners looks well and extremely real, which I find they really improved on compared to other original PoPs. Also, the character design is well done, minus the non-flowing hair on the prince, but that is just a minor detail in the game. I do find the environments look awesome, especially visiting the master djinn. (I forget her name) lol
Story:
Well, the Prince was informed by his father to visit his Brother, Malik, which has never made an appereance before in the series. When you get there, his palace is under attacking by an invading army trying to acquire his territory. While Malik's hold on the battle crumbles, he decided to use the magic of the sand army to destroy the invaders, not realizing that true story of the power and how it was put to rest before hand because it tried to kill anyone who uses it. Unfortunately, Malik releases it, and the sand army is trying to kill him, and made the rest of his warriors statues of stone. The prince and Mailk have the two pieces of the key which allows them to be human instead of sandstone. I think I will leave it there for everyone to play through it.
Gameplay:
Forgotten Sands is a game that you can pick up and play with the best abilities possible, meaning you can pick it up and do awesome combo's or areial slashes with ease with the minimal learning curve. The combat has been reduced compared to other PoPs where you can acquire dual weapons or pick up anything and use it, but that's alright. this game makes up for that with the sheer number of enemies on the screen at once. With killing these monster, you acquire experience orbs that all you to upgrade your prince to be stronger and better. Even though the grid system is small, it still provides some depth into the world of persia. The only problem I have are the damn turning gears, they never seem to go the way I want them to. For replay value, you can acquire all trophies if you want, but there is a very small replay value to the game. You can do challenges, but will not acquire rewards for doing them.
Sound:
I do believe that the action sounds in the game are spot on, but if you have played the other PoP's, you can notice that the prince talks to himself with mediocre humour, which eventually gets annoying in my opinion. Almost like hockey announcers. Anywho, the music is awesome in this game, I find it relaxing to play through with persian music. Other than that, the voice acting is spot on in the game especially with certian characters.
Overall:
The game is fun and great to play through, but if you were expecting something more, than you will be disappointed in it. The ability to freeze water, time and fly for short spans is definitely a cool aspect to the game, but I wish they would have done more to it. I still believe it's worth a rent or buy especially since it's only 24$
Cheers!
