A prince of a far off land quests to save his kingdom

User Rating: 9.3 | Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time PS2
In the Prince of Persia (from here on PoP) you play as well...the Prince of Persia. The game opens up with a scene of the Prince, his father, and some of their army coming upon the palace of the Maharaja. Their goal is to steal the glorious treasure of the Maharaja, the Sands of Time. The Prince seperates from the group and goes out on his own. After you do a little bit of searching tutorial style, you come upon your own little treasure, the Dagger of Time. The Prince makes his way back to where his father is, and upon rash acting, accidently releases the Sands of Time, beginning his problems and his adventures.
This games centers around environmental puzzles, and acrobatic fighting techniques. The Prince can run up and along walls for considerable distances, allowing him to get to places that no one else could.
The Prince fights flourintine style (using two weapons, one in each hand) your primary weapon is a longsword, and you will find new and better ones as you travel through the game, and you secondary is always the Dagger of Time. The Dagger is intricate to your success, and this will be explained in the next paragragh.
The Prince's best ability though is his control of the Sands of Time, after releasing them he gained the ability to control them. This is very importand if you wish to succeed at this game. The Prince has the ability to rewind time, so if you make a fatal mistake and have some sands of time, you may rewind time so that you never made that mistake. He also has the ability to slow time, making it possible to get through doors that close to fast otherwise, and also allowing you to battle enemies easier, because they will be slow while you stay at normal speed. To get Sands of Time, you must kill the enemies you encounter with the Dagger of Time, and this will release sands so that you may pick them up and use them.
One really cool thing about this game is the environment, it is all one big puzzle pretty much. you must move blocks, turn levers, and flip switches in a variety of ways and orders to get where you want to go, which makes the puzzle aspect of this game incredibly fun.
This is a great game, and opens up a great series to play, you will enjoy this game very much, and feel compelled to play the others in the series.
