A classic and amazing trilogy digitally remastered on a high definition console.

User Rating: 9 | Prince of Persia Trilogy PS3
As soon as I saw that this trilogy was available on the PlayStation 3, I jumped at the chance of being able to play this brilliant trilogy all over again. I don't have a PS2 anymore, and the standalone Prince of Persia games that I owned all broke for some reason. Now, the trilogy is available on one Blu-Ray Disc (UK only as far as I'm aware) and as download on the PS store.

I really think that the transition from Standard Definition/PS2 to High Definition/PS3 has been done really well. The trilogy really does look a lot clearer and crispier than it originally did on the PS2. The only thing that bugged me while playing through this trilogy is that all of the same problems that existed with the PS2 version have been carried over to the PS3. For instance, on Warrior Within, there are several un-explainable bugs and glitches that occur sometimes, and if you continue to play with these bugs exposed, then the game may permanently break down. That happened to me on the original PS2 version of Warrior Within. An example of a strange bug that was present (**!!Possible Spoilers !!**) is that if you quit the game very early on, and then load it again almost immediately, the game will load up with you playing as the Sand Wraith, which you should NOT be playing as until very very late on in the game. And if you continue playing the game as the Sand Wraith so early on, you may be at risk of breaking the game permanently if followed through.

But enough about the moaning and groaning of the bugs and that. These games are absolutely fantastic. They were brilliant 6 years ago, and they are still brilliant now. My personal favorite is Warrior Within, despite the bugs. The combat is fun and always keeps you on your toes, with enemies constantly attacking you. Combos are generally easy to use and you can also pick up secondary weapons in WW and The Two Thrones to broaden your combat skills. The Two Thrones has been a great game so far, as I am not very far through it, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. Changing to and back the Dark Prince in The Two Thrones is fun, and keeps the game fresh throughout. I have to agree with Gamespots original review of WW when they say the darker tone became somewhat flat compared to The Sands of Time. The prince became arrogant and the menus and loading screens were always so bloody. I felt much more comfortable with the tone of The Sands of Time and the Two Thrones.

The music and the voice acting is of generally good quality. The voice acting gives the story some emotion and makes it better. In WW, battles were given hard rock music tracks, which were good, but keeping in trend with the storybook trend of The Sands of Time wasn't something that the music in WW was able to do. This is rectified in The Two Thrones, as the music becomes as it was on The Sands of Time, and the narration is back to telling a story, which I really like.

If you really enjoyed the trilogy on the PlayStation 2 in standard definition, then you will really really enjoy the trilogy on the PlayStation 3 in High Definition and in 3D if you have a 3D telly and 3D glasses. This is truly a re-mastered version of a true PlayStation 2 classic trilogy.
