Prince of Persia: Warrrior Within is good, but feels more like a excuse to sell more copies than a true sequel.

User Rating: 8 | Prince of Persia: Warrior Within XBOX
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within in the sequel to last years smash hit Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. This time around though, the game is a lot gorier and down right darker than the original title. The game starts out sort of after the Sands of Time. Except, the Prince is sent back to a time before the Sands of Time was created. His mission is to destroy the sands of time before it is created and make none of this ever happen, but one little obstacle is in his way. He is supposed to die. He has been declared dead by the gods, so tons of evil minions and other deadly creatures have been sent to kill you. Gameplay: The gameplay in the game is still great, the combat has improved. But the games main problem I will address for the rest of the review. The game just doesnt feel right. The games best parts are now gone in the wind, its story and its innovations. The story in the game is, though good, not epic in any means compared to Sands of Time. And innovation is sort of gone, it kind of plays like a regular hack and slash action title. The cutscenes, like in the original, are top notch, except in the Xbox version, there was a few graphical glitches. Graphics: The graphics in this game are dark, gloomy, and down right awesome. The games resolution, graphics, cutscenes, and framerate run mostly smooth enough to where you dont really notice any flaws. But, they arent perfect. Some textures are muddy and the darkness of the game makes it have a few jaggies. Sound: The sound and music are quite great, but still, not as good as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The sound effects are great and the music and voiceacting is of quality standards. But it kind of just sounds like a regular game, unlike Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which had such innovative and such different sound and music. Value: The game is long enough and challenging enough to give you tons of gameplay experiences. As far as a multiplayer components go, there is none, no co op, no deathmatch multiplayer. But over xbox live, there is downloadable content. Other/Tilt: I like this game, I wont deny, but when it is the sequel to one of 2003s best games, and you distinguish yourself so well, just let it go to try to sell more copies by making it a bloody gory game. I am kind of dissapointed in Ubi Soft for this. One thing I forgot in the review is the AI, well one sentence will sum it up. The game is smarter than that child prodigy in college in your town. Here are my scores for Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.
