Great sequel, only thing missing from the predecessor is fairy-tale-style setting.
User Rating: 8.3 | Prince of Persia: Warrior Within PS2
Prince of Persia : Warrior Within, seems like all new Prince of Persia, but this game is actually a sequal to the Well respected game of 2003 Prince of Persia : Sand of Time. The reason people think that this game is not sequal to POP:SOT is that, the Prince is not look like prince you saw in POP:SOT right in package, with blooded sword and all. But even though this game changed its atmosphere completely, the POP:WW is truely great sequel to POP:SOT except the part that it missing dremy fairy-tale-style story telling. Graphic of the POP:WW is truly amazing. Prince, and all model is extremely well detailed and polygoned, and when it comes to the Enviornment, its truly delivering the meaning of being DARK. Compare to the predecessor POP:SOT, you will see more detailed character and environment, and better frame rate. You will simply love how it look, if you are not narrow yourself to expecting the enviornment similar to POP:SOT. Sound, just as it is, is great. Weapons sound great, and voice acting is smooth and fitting to the character's personalities. BGM is perhaps the arguable things to talk about. As i said, just as it is, the rock-type music makes your adrenaline pumping, and it fits the intensity of the game. But if you narrow yourself down by comparing the game with POP:SOT, then you will be completely dissapointed by changing fairy-tale music into the rock-town music. But as i said music stand alone is Great, and the voice acting will satisfy you. Value is perhaps the weakest point of the game. Playtime's been lengthier than the predessor, but if you played the enough of POP:SOT before this game, you might even end faster than the time you finished the first time of POP:SOT. Most of the gametime is spent on finding the environment 'puzzle' using the various platforming skill that prince has, but yet this platforming puzzle is very similar compare with POP:SOT, that if you are gamer who played the POP:SOT, you will notice the solution much faster. If you didn't played the POP:SOT, then you will possibly spending good time finding the puzzle, but over all, the playtime is pretty short. What makes the game value is that there is very less replayability. There is somethings to unlock to let you test out how the thing works, but none of them are really good enough to let gamer to play twice. So if you are the person, who cares about hours and hours of gameplay, this is not the game for you. Gameplay is one of the greatest aspect of the game. You will see the rewind feature the POP:SOT has, so you can undo the mistake you make, (mostly during platforming) but the developed add far more than that. They add Slowdown feature so you can make better decision and stylish move, during the battle. And the battle itself become much better than what POP:SOT has. There is plenty of combo depending on how you press the priminary and secondary button, and combo's usefulness are completely different depends on what weapon prince hold as priminary and secondary. So there are so many possibilities, and you can find the fighting style you want from that endless possibility. Also, you will do much better on 1 VS many combat, thanks to the strenthened acrobatic skill, so you will have less problem than POP:SOT on battle. POP:WW is such a great sequel, if you are willing to sacrifice the dreamy touch the POP:SOT had, then you will definitely enjoy this (if you didn't care of this from begining, then it's fine also). If you are first timer, also pick this up, in one condition that you will not care about the length of the game.
