Prince Of Persia has a lot to offer but nothing to truly make it stand out from other games.

Prince of Persia has a lot going for it, but nothing that truly makes it stand out from other games out there.

The game tells a story about a prince who runs into a woman named Elika and is thrown into saving the world with her. Elika's father has helped release the evil monster ahriman and he has taken over the land and has drained the land of its color and life. The Prince is now taken on a journey with Elika to find fertile grounds across the land and bring them back to life with Elika's power.

This game does have some excellent qualities. I'll start out with the best.
The graphics in this game are truly amazing. The detail of all the characters, environments, and the cell shade design really is amazing. You can literally spend minutes just looking around at your environment and just be in shock. It's very beautiful and when you look at the artwork that was created for this game it shows through in the actual game.

The music in this game is also well done. It fits the game very well as it is very Arabian and suits the game well. There are times when you return to a place where you have previously been, the music just doesn't play or it goes out sometimes then comes back. The voice overs are also done very well for the Prince and Elika. Some of the lines are very cheesy, but it can make for a good laugh. Otherwise all voice work is great.

The actual gameplay is very solid as well. This is a true platformer game. The entire game is all based on climbing and exploring new environents. There are very few enemies or other obstacles to take on. Progression in this game is all based on your platforming skills. You have to master hitting buttons at correct times, jumping, climbing, and finding the right path to take. This makes the game fairly simple, but not to easy. There are some confusing puzzles, and difficult platforming areas in the game. There are also no game overs in the game which makes some of the platforming areas a little less frustrating.

Combat in the game is very nice as well. There are many combos to try and master when there are enemies here and there and during boss battles. The combos can be up to 14 hits and watching the combos on screen is very cool. Again you can't die or get game over, so if you get hit to many times you just kind of restart. You get your health back and so does the enemy.

Overall this is a great experience of a game, but like most games there are some shortcomings. First of all this game was awfully short. The main game can easily be beat around 10 hours...if that. There are items called light seeds to collect through the game that could possibly add a few more hours, but not to much. Also the game was a little on the repetitive side. There are four main bosses in the game and you fight them five different times. And each time they fight the exact same way. Plus most of the platforming is similar in all levels.

I know this game has recently gone down in price (hence, why I bought it). And It is definitely worth the money. Just don't expect something out of the ordinary. It's a very standard game and kind of short game. Although the amazing graphics, music, and action in the game make it great and worth the $20 or $30 it is now.
