What can I say? It's tough, challenging, fun and frustating to play. It's a solid platformer with a real eye candy, beautiful graphics and good humour. But under all that, believe it or not, prinny's a kick ass game with a super old school difficulty. Yup, it's old school. It is over the edge hard yet highly addictive. So those who are looking for a casual play, step aside please.

The gameplay is basically a hack and slash platformer, dashing your way through waves of enemies with two swords equipped with a basic attack and a combo. But unlike modern platformers, the jump action is uncontrollable, you can't control the arc and direction of the jump (like old games). This also happens with the combos, so when you're unleashing a combo while advancing near a cliff, expect to say bye-bye to your prinny as he goes hacking down the abyss. And all this means one thing; timing. Timing is crucial into winning each level, it requires skill, pixel perfect precision and a nack of experience and patience. So don't expect to press the attack button all the time, trust me it won't work.
The screen will be clusttered with hordes of enemies, in land, water and air. So you really can't hack' your way through, you gotta have tactics. The enemies are pretty frustating to kill sometimes, and the area makes it even harder to win. But luckily, there are checkpoints in the levels, which saves alot of time and nerve. The game gives you 1000 lives to spend, but when it finishes it's game over for you. So don't think the game's easy cause every time an enemy touches you, you lose a life, repeat it three times and you'll lose one life from a thousand. So expect to die, alot. The level of difficulty varies day and night, with new enemies or less obstacles, giving a sense of replay value. The boss battles are fairly hard, depending on your patience and observation (like in old megaman and gradius games). Some bosses vary too according to the time.

Of course the game has maintained the traditional disgeae style of humour, especially the torture of the prinnies. This time, etna's sending the prinnies to fetch her a rare dessert. You heard me; dessert. So yeah, typical disgeae joke, and there'll be lots of lines to laugh at too, but there are shorter and less cutscenes in prinny.

The graphics are top notch, perfectly lined and set. It's beautiful and solid to look at, clear and precise. A platformer has never seen such a vibrant colorful stage, but it's still fun to play. The attacks look great and the sound really matches the area. But like old games, the music don't change in one level. For the looks of prinny, Ii must give it a three thumbs up (that's right). Well, gamers deserve a nice sight too other than dying all the time in this game.

Overall prinny is a perfect game for old school and hardcore lovers, it's perfectly displayed and played. Though you will die a billion times, there's always that sense of "just one more time" feeling, but the one more time never ends till you finally win and shout (and others look at you with the eye)
Prinny is definitely worth being added to your collection, even if you don't like the toughness, at least play for a level and enjoy the old time games in a new prinny style!
