A game that not only thinks outside the box but makes it fun!

User Rating: 9.5 | Layton Kyouju to Akuma no Hako DS
I have just finished this diabolically fun puzzle game and I must say that I haven't had that much fun and challanged mixed into a game in a while.

Graphics: Graphically the game was pleasing. Easy to look at yeat clever in the way events and puzzles are hidden withoutthe environment. Both interactive and cutscenes alike were enjoyable. The conversations were done so that you felt as if you were standing in a circle truly solving the mysteries together with the Professor and Luke. After finishing the game only a few hours ago, I find myself wanting to see this game series as a cartoon of some sort.

Controls: Controls were great. Using the stylus as a searching tool gives the playing a feeling of investigation and less the feeling of controlling the characters.

Gameplay: Gameplay was wonderful. A vast assortment of challanging puzzles while throwing in a few easy ones to give the player a breather every once in a while. Side games like the hamster game and the camera reconstruction added to the easing of your headaches when you just come from solving some of the more challanging puzzles. The ability to download puzzles and backtrack through the game to find passed puzzles is a great attribute.

Storyline: I will not give anything away for the storyline but that I have not followed one so closely that the object of my wanting to finish the game was, for once and beyond how I usually describe myself a gamer, not for the completion but to find the answers to the great mysteries.

Overall: I must confess that I have never played the previous installment. I am now searching for a copy because the diabolical box has proven itself amazing. I recommend this game to anyone looking for challange, mystery and an amazing storyline. I look forward to furture titles for this series. Amazing game!
