I got my new monitor yesterday, a Samsung T220. When i play games i always put Vertical Sync ON ( i cant stand the horizontal tearing effect when SYNC is OFF).

So, this monitor have a refresh rate of 75 hertz, when i play in 1280/1024 sync ON, max FPS is 75, but when i display in 1680/1050 Sync ON, max fps is only 60. . .

So, is it normal a 1680/1050 resolution only support 60 hertz ?? Is there any way i can set it to 75 hertz ??

Thx !!

besides crysis what cant you max out or come close to maxing out with your 8800GT...really i dont think it would be worth while to upgrade ATM...i would wait for some new stronger cards to come out...just my opinion tho...

Mavlow

Yea, maybe i should wait. It's just that right now i run COD4 @ 1280/1024, and my FPS drop to 40 when theres a lot of smoke.... And ill receive a new monitor soon, a Samsung t220 22'', so ill run COD4 @ 1440/900 or 1680/1050, andi think its going to kill my fps. .

[QUOTE="Aneurysm"]

Ok, so i currently have an ASUS 8800GT 512mo. I'd like to get something better, but im afraid my PC will hold me back..

Q6600, P5K-e, PSU thermaltake 500w, Antec900, windows xp, 22'' t220, 2g @ 800mhz

-So, i thought i could maybe get a 9800 GTX, but i think it support only windows vista ?

-Also, my current 8800gt fit tight in my case so im afraid a 9800 GTX couldnt fit in....?

-And my PSU might not be powerfull enough. . . ??

So guys, what do you think ???????????

thx !!

vhtboomer

U will have plenty of space in your antec 900 for a 9800gtx

Ok, well, then would it be worth getting a 9800GTX+ SSC edition ?????? Would it be a significative improvement over my 8800GT ?

Got a new PC, and i love it : 8800GT, Q6600, 2g ram @800Mhz, P5K-E, and i kept my ''old'' ViewSonic 17'' LCD.

Now when i play games (Crysis, Cod4), the only resolution i can use are : 800/600,1024/768, 1152/864, 1280/1024,

Is it possible to set my resolution to 1280/960, which is a 1.33 ratio andlooks better IMO than 1280/1024 (1.25 ratio)

thx.

Yea maybe i should do this, first, i ordered a E6850, then i changed to a Q6600, .... maybe i will change again, i don't know.

But also, hum, i don't want to wait, i want to buy crysis and play it now .. lol.... and if i always wait for the next generation i'll never buy anything.....

i don't know, im confused, i need more Benchmarks to make my mind.

ugh %@&?, i ordered a Q6600, i will receive it in a few days, i havn't began yet to enjoy it, and i already regret i bought it.......

for almost the same price, i could have got a Core 2 Quad Q9450, 2.66Ghz, 12Mb, FSB 1333Mhz, instead, i will have 2.40Ghz, 8Mb, and Fsb 1066Mhz...

I feel TOTALLY rip off. I thouhgt thoses new Penryn would cost a little more, hence, i would still be happy with my Q6600, but now that they are the same price, im just f***** up.

In my opinion, there is no real reasons to go with a core2 duo. Why get a core2 duo when you can overclock a core2 Quad to 3.00Ghz, and get pretty much the same result as a E8650, for the same price.
