Something I have to say about A Pain in the Heart (could contain spoilers)

At first I had scrapped the thought of writing something about the Bones season finale A Pain in the Heart in my blog and do just the review. But a lot of things don't belong into a review so I decided to post them here. This is not a review about the episode itself but rather about the aftermath.

Right now there are heated debates about this episode raging across the net. And I understand completely why people are disappointed, sad and angry for what the show did to the Zack character. Was it right to do this?

Not necessarily, but it's the producer's choice and somewhere in all this mess there will be a reason for this, apart from the shock value. I'm not surprised by this, however, every show that is on the air right now or has been in recent years did a stunt one way or the other (at least the ones I was or am still watching) and after 3 seasons, I guess HH (or FOX) decided now it's time to shake up Bones. Is that a good thing? That remains to be seem.

But some reactions are just wrong to me. Firstly, I understand that if Zack was your favourite character, you feel it more than someone who just watched and liked him. I really liked him and I think EM is a terrific actor. But to say Zack was the heart and the center of the show is just wrong from where I am standing. That sounds like people are watching a different show. To me the heart is still there, it's Bones and Booth. Of course this is an ensemble show, but in the end it's their show. "They are the center."

Another thing I don't get is the hatred towards the other cast members, against ED and DB for doing nothing in their capacity as Co-Producers. Or why the whole cast didn't go on strike as soon as they learned that one of their own is going to leave not voluntarily. Huh??? This is a business and you don't bite the hands that feeds you.

And I am quite appalled to read some seething posts of hatred and exclamations of getting the show cancelled ASAP. How can people, who claim to be die-hard fans, turn their back on the show, because of ONE cra*** (in their opinion, not mine) episode? It should take more than that, but that's just me and I speak from my own experiences of being disappointed and turned off by shows I used to love.

It is not my intention to offend anyone with this, I just needed to get it off my chest. What I said here doesn't apply exclusively to this forum but to others as well.

I am looking forward to S4 of Bones, bring it on!!

On the subject of spoilers

I used to be a spoiler-holic, but I figured to take a different road a while ago, because I find that being surprised by my favorite tv shows are much more fun.

So, I stay away from any threads that smells like spoilers and of course, from the official spoiler threads. Unfortunately, no matter what I do, there are spoilers all over the place and I just wish that some people would respect those who don't want to know anything, especially the big spoilers. Is it that hard to stay in the appropriate thread? It is hard work not to click on spoiler tags and all that was for nothing if someone blurbs it out (without mean intention) in places that are designated to be spoiler-free.

It can't be the only solution not to go online anymore. I did this with the last Harry Potter book, because people talked all over the place on the Internet, but even in their tagline of reviews! WTH???? I have to stay of any NCIS boards for the time being because there is major evil brewing in the season finale and I DON'T want to know about it. The same goes for Bones, especially for that show, because I love my surprises here.

So, please be thoughtful where you post information about future eps and happenings of current tv shows, books and movies :). Thank you.

Let's get down to business !!!

Okay, I have a confession to make, I have an obsessive need to make lists, any kind of lists. I like putting stuff in perpective or order or ...... whatever. I'm weird this way :P. And I especially love to make lists of anything I like. So, here goes my first TOP TEN list.

I really, really wanted to include more eps, but then it wouldn't be a TOP TEN. I like pretty much all Bones shows, every single one has some really nice moments, the ones I like the least are Woman in the Car, The Girl in Suite 2103 and Spaceman in a Crater, but they are still good.

I'm done for now and working on more lists. :)

My first blog

I never thought I would do a blog, but I suddenly got the urge to do so after reading all the wonderful blogs done by people around here :).

I having a week off from studying thanks to Whitsun holidays. So (apart from studying a little, like required reading) I will continue to plow through my shows and try to read a couple of my new books.

As for reading, I just finished the comics Buffy - Season 8 #1-12 and Angel - After the Fall #1-6. I am not that much of a comics fan in general (the last ones I read where the ones of The X-Files), but since these are the continuations of the beloved Whedon shows, I NEEDED to read them. I found Angel to be alright, but a little confusing at times, guess I have to re-read them to understand them better. I loved S8 of Buffy, especially the Faith arc. So, since I enjoyed them, I also got Tales of the Slayers and Tales of the Vampires, the last mentioned I am reading right now and I think it is really great. The illustration range from great to meh, but the plots are tight.

As for shows, I mostly watch DVDs these days. Current shows I watch on TV are new episodes of Cold Case, NCIS and The Closer. I tried to watch the new season (14) of E.R. but sadly, after all these years I just found it to be boring. I guess, it is finally time to finish this.

Currently I am watching on DVD:

  • Gilmore Girls - never saw it on TV and thought I'd finally give it a try. I needed some light stuff after watching 24 (S1-4), so much torture! I really like it, Lauren Graham is great. I am almost done with S3 right now, S4-7 ready to go.
  • Buffy S4, Angel S1 - first time that I watch them simultaneously and I intend to so until I'm through
  • various episodes of my favorite obsession Bones

Upcoming I still have to watch 24 (S5/6) and I just ordered Ally McBeal S1-5 and I am really looking forward to see it again, it has been ages.

On to-watch-list are :

  • Farscape (rewatch)
  • The X-Files (rewatch)
  • NCIS S4 (new)
  • Star Trek Voyager (rewatch)
  • Star Trek Enterprise (rewatch)
  • Babylon 5 (rewatch)
  • Alias (rewatch)
  • Moonlighting (rewatch)

Hmm, that is a lot to watch, I guess it will be 2020 before I finish them.

So, enjoy the nice sunny days for now.
