Our teacher made us write funky math problems for laughs. I decided to do it themed Harry Potter. Yay! Enjoy and comment. Harry Potter Math Problems If Dumbledore falls off the Astronomy Tower at 20 mph and the tower is 500m high, how long will I take for Harry, who is stationed at the top of the tower, to hear Dumbledore hit the ground? Harry Potter is flying on his broomstick at 70 mph towards the northern end of the Quidditch Pitch. The Snitch is 50 ft in front of him zigzagging its way across the pitch in a forward motion. Assuming Harry can catch the Snitch, how long will it take for him to catch up? The Hogwarts Express left London at 11 o'clock in the morning and is traveling northeastern at 90 mph. The Hogwarts Castle is 1000 miles to the northeast; so how long will it take to get there? Round your answer to the nearest tenth of a second. If Harry is swimming in the Black Lake at 5 mph underwater, assuming he doesn't have to come up for breath and he still has a human shape and features, how long will it take to reach the important thing that was taken from him in the night, which happens to be a 1/2 mile away. When expressing your answer, don't forget to add on the time of encounter with the Merpeople. Voldemort has finally, to use the common phrase, kicked the bucket, or my personal favorite, snuffed the candle. The information travels at 1 person per 30 seconds. In other words, one person finds out this news every 30 seconds. How long will it take for the whole wizarding community to find out this news, minus the 571 or so people who witnessed Harry Potter killing him? Oh, and don't include yourself either, because you're not a wizard. If Dobby the HouseElf can Apparate and DisApparate at the speed of light, and Pluto, the planet not the dog, is some amount of light years away, how long will it take for Dobby to reach Pluto? Express your answer in light years. Bonus: Calculate the difference in tenths of light years with the number of passengers that Dobby can carry. Take into note the density of each one.
