The Invasion of Aqua Teen

Perhaps you have heard about the bomb scares we were having in Boston yesterday that turned out to be a marketing campaign for the new Aqua Teen movie. Evidently Turner Broadcasting accepted blame last night around 5pm, even though Boston Police had been dealing with diffusing these things all over town since 8am yesterday. I find that highly ironic, since CNN, which is owned by Turner Broadcasting, had been reporting the news about it all day as well.

Regardless, here we are now, safe and sound once more, and it's a question of whether is this something to laugh at, or to be really peeved over. Now, I'm not a fan of the show necessarily, but how is it any different than if there were electronic signs of Stewie from Family Guy, of which I am a fan, posted all over the city, promoting the show?

I think where the real blame lies here is with the two men who were arrested last night as having been hired by the marketing company to place these electronic boards all over town. I think they were the ones who acted the most outrageous by placing them under bridges so that cherry-pickers were needed to remove them. I don't even know how they got them up there in the first place. But as has been commented before, electronically-wired gadgets having been duct-taped up underneath a bridge which holds up Interstate 93 in the post 9/11 world we live in is going to create havoc. And an even bigger question - how would anyone have seen it there anyway, if these two geniuses were hired for their "abilities" to place these things in "high profile" areas around the city to promote the movie? I think that is where Turner Broadcasting went wrong. Just stick with billboards and commercials like everyone else. Don't worry: The American public will get inundated with your advertising well enough.
