Liverpool play Barcelona tonight in the second leg of the Champions League. The 2-1 aggregate lead that we have from the first leg has given us a great chance to advance into the last 8. The game will be tough as Barcelona are clearly a class act but I feel that the disappointment from the weekend due to the loss to Utd will work in our favour. Gerrard is due a big performance and tonight could be the night. I fancy us to take the game 1-0 but who knows. If we get through tonight we could win the whole competition!!!
I myself am a huge Lost fan; in fact it is one of my all time favourite TV shows, but some people are judging the third season too quickly, and quite frankly it is getting stupid. Yes the season has perhaps been slow to get started but give it a chance! I am sure some people just wanted Jack, Kate and Sawyer to get away from the others straight away; but the suspense that has been made as a result of clever writing has made the season very good. The writers have needed to lay the foundation first. The storyline of Jack, Kate, Sawyer and the others is just about to get 10 times better now that Kate and Sawyer have made it back to their island. The other main storyline of Desmond being able to tell the future is also very interesting now that we know Charlie faces the inevitable. I feel that the reason it has not started as quickly as some may have thought is because time has needed to be taken in order to make the others more interesting characters. The Juliet centric episode was vital to our understanding of her character, and in my opinion the writers have done a good job making the others as interesting as they are in just 9 short episodes. I am very confident that this season is just about to become one of the most exciting, edge of your seat TV programmes ever, just wait and see.
After watching Bayer Leverkusen against Blackburn yesterday, a game in which Liverpool's alledged new striker Andriy Voronin played in, I am not sure what to think about us signing him. Granted he wasn't given much service but his movement off the ball was not, in my opinion, good enough for a top level side such as Liverpool. For example, when you look at Drogba he has excellent movement off the ball, an attribute that has contributed to his goals this season. Okay so we are not paying for him but we will still have to pay his wages and if we choose to sign a real top class striker in the summer we will have 5 strikers. Surely this is too many. We have 5 strikers now and Fowler never gets a game. It will be exactly the same scenario. Plus the sight of 4 strikers already at the club may deter any new striker from joining. Okay I admit it probably won' have this effect but it is a factor that has to be considered.
Oh by the way I am gutted for Blackburn. They really should have won the game.
The Mighty reds do it again in Europe with a fantastic result against Barcelona on their own turf; the Nou Camp. Bellamy and Riise with the goals! You couldn't make it up! Guess my predicted score of 2-1 to the reds was right, but the important factor is that we now have a good chance of getting through to the quarter finals of the Champions League, and that is where we should be!
Best Player : Momo Sissoko. He was absolutely everywher. A 5 million bargain!
Rafael Benitez Rating : 10!! He got his tactics absolutely spot on! No manager in Europe can match him when it comes to tactics in the Champions League. BRILLIANT!!
Liverpool playing Barcelona today in the Champions league in what should be a great match. I've been looking forward to it ever since the draw was made in December. If Liverpool get a good result at the nou camp i.e a win or a score draw then i fancy us to take them at Anfield!
