Semi-old great game of the week #1

I apologize for the title, guess I could have chosen a shorter one. Anyway, there are many great games that a lot of people, including myself, miss out on. So I thought; why not help out my fellow gamers by recommending games that are cheap since they are kind of old, but still great? That is exactly what I am going to do. So what will be the first game to start off the list?

SWAT 4

This first person shooter was released back in April 2005 for the PC and at first it didn't really catch my eye. Basically what I thought was; "Yeah, another FPS. No thanks." It was actually a coincidence that I even tried the game out. A couple of months after release I went home to a friend of a friend who had recently purchased the game. Since I had it in front of me I thought; "Heck, I might as well give it a try." It's a good thing I did try it out. Let me tell you why.

I might as well start out by giving you the a run down of the basics. As the name clearly states you are part of a SWAT team, the commander of the team to be more exact, and it is your job to direct your fellow members through a series of situations gone sour. There are in 13 missions in total, including an abandoned house, fast food restaurent, car shop etc.

There are a lot of options when it comes to directing your team, you can equip them however you see fit, split them up, give orders on how to clear areas etc. Instead of me trying to explan every little detail about it, just check out Gamespot's video review and see for yourself.

If you decide to try this game and like it, I can only recommend the expansion, SWAT 4: The Stretchkov Syndicate.

I really hope that you give this one a try if you haven't done so already. If you have any recommendations for me, please share your thoughts. Well, that's it for now. Next week I'll post another recommendation of a semi-old great game that you might have missed out on.
