Semi-old great game of the week #3

New week means new game. What do I have in store this time? Think slow motion combined with a ton of guns and I think you'll have it figured out. Know which game I'm talking about? That's right, Max Payne.

This game was released in 2001 and added something new to the gaming industry. This gimmick if you will is its greatest strength gameplay wise. I'm of course talking about the bullet time effect. This is what makes this title special and it is also what you want more and more of it every time.

The story is about the appropriately named Max Payne who tries to solve the mystery behind the murder of his wife and baby. It is told in a dark and creative way through pictorial cut scenes filled with atmosphere and some incredible voice acting from James McCaffrey adding to the already intriguing plot line.

As far as gameplay goes it is a lot of fun. The game relies on the bullet time effect to keep you entertained. After a while it can start to feel a little repetitive as the game doesn't offer you much variety. All you have to do is take a break and you will soon be back for more. For some reason it is extremely satisfying to hurl yourself down a set of stairs in order to take out a few bad guys. The story is what keeps you going after a while though hour after hour. Yes, it is that good.

If you want a better look you can as always check out Gamespot's review.

I reckon many of you have already played both this one and the sequel, but if you haven't you definitely should.
