Oh, I must add to my original post: one of the best moments was leaving the cave in FarCry and seeing the whole island just open up before me...stunning.
I think the ending of Halo: CE was pretty impressive, the sound just fades out (it's in a vacuum, people), the "Autumn"'s engines explode, and the whole ringworld gracefully rips itself apart. It's especially poignant if you've read the books...
I know, that's one of the reasons PCs are sooo much better than consoles, but my fuddled brain just found it difficult to cope with "Relaying Mesh Categories" :P.
*sigh* The mods really should get laws passed saying that we can shotgun anyone who doesn't read the stickies titled "THIS IS NOT A HARDWARE FORUM!!!"...
lol, a quick hour, as opposed to a slow one? No, I've always found PC map editors far too complicated for my taste. The only map editor I could ever actually use was TS2 and TS3 on GC.
Really jealous of you wheezal, the highest res I can afford to run any game on (except maybe PacMan) is 1024x800 (or whatever it is), the lowest I have ever had to go being 800x600. It doesn't seem to make much difference to most games, and in fact occasionally it seems to make things look WORSE, but it depends on the game.
