I think its common knowledge what the most popular online games are though.

MMORPGS - World of Warcraft

FPS - Counter Strike

RTS - Dawn of War ? Company of Heroes? No idea here.

You mean addictive. Which quite rightly hits the point. An addiction is an uncontrollable repetition, mainly what MMORPGs capitalise on. Play something more rewarding if you want something out of your games. Dreamfall: The Longest Journey for example. Costs money, but its very.....enlightening.
