This is my second draft if your curious :) thanks to every one that has helped thus far :D
Dark Sector is an action game that puts you in the roll of Hayden Tenno, a secret agent for the CIA. As Hayden you have been sent into the fictional country of Lasria to track down your target, Victor. Victor has been closely watched by the CIA and is on the verge of releasing a new biological weapon on the world and it's Hayden's job to put an end to it before he gets a chance to unleash it. Early on Hayden is infected, sprouting a three pronged throwing weapon from your hand, the glaive. It's now your job to continue on your mission crippling, dismembering and mutilating and anyone in your path.
Hayden is a run-of-the-mill CIA agent with a dark and murky past, topped off with suspiciously good hair. It may interest you to know that Hayden is voiced by Michael Rosenbaum, who plays Lex Luther in "Smallville" And although he delivers all his lines well, Dark Sector is crippled by a weak story. While the story showed great potential, It's difficult to invest any emotional energy into the journey of a character when his lines, background and fail to show any real signs of development.
The game play in dark sector is solid, but unoriginal. The best way to describe is think, Resident evil + Gears of War + Killer Frisbee. As many games these days the game implements a "duck and cover" mechanic made popular by Gears of War. The greatest appeal of the gameplayis the powers and abilities granted to you thanks to the virus. The most appealing of these is the glaive, the pronged disk that grows out of your arm. This weapon will be your main weapon throughout the game so it's great that it's so much fun to use! It can be hurled like a boomerang or it can be guided in manually with the help of the motion controller on the PS3 version. The most satisfying thing in the game is getting that perfect head shot, leaving a trail of gore and guts behind.
Its gore and guts is where this game excels. This game looks really good; the animation and character models are top notch, with superb lighting that takes the cake. And while you may run into a glitch once in a while it looks great for the most part, holding a solid 30fps, showing its one of the best looking games around.
Dark Sector has enough merit to at least deserve your attention, while it might be flawed with a lack luster story, the gameplay is rewording enough to make this game one to look out for. The learning curve is smooth so your hair shall remain in the correct place, but still offering some challenging moments on the boss battles. Unfortunately the game only clocks in at about 8 hours which makes it perfect for a rental, but wont justify a £40 gap in your wallet. 7.5/10
absolutely no reason to begin the review by saying what it is about, thats for the title only.
"this game" what game? make it the title of the game.
"to track down your target" who's target, cant be mine. clarify that.
infact, don't use the word YOU at all. thats very gradeschoolish.
stop using AND, just combine the sentences or come up with better transition words
the story is partially paragraph one and paragraph two, im confused. you should summarize each paragraph and the end of paragraph one. like write, this game has a very cool yet generic story, same goes with the gameplay, but the graphics do a great job of setting the tone help create an immersive experience. you see i just laid out what the next three paragraphs would be about, so do something like that.
use better transition sentences at the ends of each paragraph.
and do a better job of summarizing the review in the final paragraph, and perhaps you should include a paragraph in there that talks about replay value, learning curve and so on instead of just throwing it in there at the end.
thats definitely a good start, but not something you'd get hired for anything for. sorry

ha dont be sorry!:) it was only the first draft of it! so this why im loving all this advice :D
Don't say stuff like:
"The story of Dark sector is nothing ground braking"
because it's saying what the game ISN'T rather than what it is. You need to sound more authoritative.
Perhaps:
"Dark Sector is unfortunately crippled by a weak storyline. The game's protagonist - Hayden, is characterized poorly with the evermore cliched 'good cop, with a scarred past' role, and while the voice acting is solid, his lines lack any depth whatsoever. It's difficult to invest any emotional energy into the journey of a character when his lines, background and persona lack any real signs of development."Stumpt25
WHOA! any chance i can imploy you as my thesaurus? :P thanks man:) i'll take that in mind
Overall it's a pretty good review..but I think that the introduction isnt good..if you are writing a proffesional review dont start the review by writing "my review will be for dark sector"...sounds less proffesional..instead start the review with an introduction..for example "dark sector is an action game that puts you in the roll of Hayden Tenno, a secret agent for the CIA..." and from there you can start explaining in details about the game..good luck..hope u get the job
