Rock vs. rap?

Face it, they're both just repetitive beats with some guy either reciting crappy poetry or some dude with an annoying voice backed up by some repetitive guitars. Also they seem almost always in major, I prefer minor.

The only "rock" I still like are several forms of metal, mostly in the dark and orchestral corner.

Oh and "Behind Blue Eyes" is a great song. >.>

Also rapfans that hate "emos" for being sentimental are freaking hypocrites, have they ever even listened to Tupac Shakur? All he seemed to rap about was how life sucks.

That's just a wrong word btw, emotions are good things, especially when it comes to art, and even sadness can be a good thing in art, emo is just uncontrolled and rather ugly sadness. Romanticist pictures often have a sence of sadness and despair over them, especially in the world today, but they're also beautiful. And there are other emotions. >.>

I leave you with an oil painting from the little known Carl Wagner.

What is art?

Something has been pissing me off as of late, it seems that everything nowadays is art. To me art isn't just a painting or a sculpture, it isn't recreating a scene as lifelike as possible. Take those "3d" images for example, the creator used specific shading so that at the right angle his painting looks 3d. Fine, great work, but is it art? I think not.
Art is not just creativity, it's emotion, passion.
For instance, there is a scene in the game Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. The scene starts in a large brownish hall with a white light at the ceiling lighting up the dust in the air but only reaching a small part of the room in a yellowish hue between 4 tall pillars. The rest of the room is brown grayish, there are other dim orange lights. There is some rubble on the floor and as well as a layer of fog/dust. The prince walks with shoulders low. A single cello plays some notes in minor.
Everything reeks of despair and sadness, you can feel the emotion even before the prince begins to speak, that is art.
For me that is more art than, say, the Mona Lisa which is a rather boring painting in my opinion, how weird the smile may be.
Take his self-portrait though, a sad and dignified man, his expression matching the withering and wrinkled man that he was. The lighting coming from somewhere vaguely behind him, making it seem as though he has no interest in something, that he is staring into the nothingness.
Art isn't just picking up a photo camera and making a black and white, or being able to paint or draw better than other people.
Anyway, writing about it seriously kills the vibe.

Another thing, I hate it when people use state of the art computer software that practically make the pictures for them.

Study, Gothic 3.

Read my review for this game here.
So I just subscribed myself into the university of Utrecht for psychology. The master I intend to follow is internationally regocnised and is given in English, which shouldn't be too much of a problem. If all goes well in five and a half years I'll be researching stuff with a government grant.
Yes that's right, my study will last for five whole years, there's never an end to it is there? After all those years of school I know nothing yet which I can use for my future job. Oh well, the education system suck, we already knew that.
Kirk out.
