Elite Blues...

O woe is me.

Have you ever swore up and down that when a game or system finally comes out that you are soooo gonna get it?  That's what I did with the Elite - ever since the first Zephyr rumor popped up on the internet.  Eh, but as it turns out, I will not have the nearly $700 to splurge on my 1st 360, extra controller, play and charge kit, and of course - the warranty.  I mean I went out and preordered games for it and all.  Life sux.  Well, on the bright side, at least it is not a limited edition thing as once rumored.  So luckily, whenever I scrape up the cash, it should be right there waiting for me.

News Flash: PS3 Becomes World's Most Expensive Dust Collector

Ah yes, the PS3.  Today we shall take a look into the lifespan of the third variety of North American Sonyshian PlayStations.

From its birth, the 3 leads a life like none other.  While on the quest to find our subject, we were tipped off as to the location of a possible chance to witness a 3 be conceived in the wild.  Dropping everything, we rushed to the scene - A popular wildlife gathering place we have come to call the GameStop.  1st on the scene, we were the envy of all behind us.  Others thought us to be insane, but they could not possibly understand our mission.  After hours of waiting, a select number of us were chosen to view our very own 3 be conceived.  After it was all said and done, the wait began.  Finally, on November 17, we returned to the GameStop wilderness to pick up our 3, still in its egg.  Once back at the lab, an incision was made through the egg's clear protective membrane and the egg was opened.  We birthed the 3 right here in our lab!  She was then hooked up to various machines via the use of HDMI wires to monitor her vitals.  Soon after, we tagged her for tracking purposes and began running various test to see how she would perform.  Our first test was Genji.  This program nearly turned out to be a complete failure.  As a result, the Genji program was sent back to its case to think about what it had done - It was had disgraced its programmers and rightly must be banished to the neatherrealm, never to see the light of day again.  While a disappointment, we pressed on to the next test program in hopes of finding better results.  We were not disappointed.  The 3 passed the Resistance test with flying colors and I must admit I had a good time testing this one all the way through to the end.  The next test was to be the Call of Duty program.  While a good program which yielded satisfactory results, it felt... wrong.  We quickly lost interest in this test and returned to the Resistance test for further testing, this time giving it the hardest test possible.  The 3 was then given a break for a number of weeks in which it sat around and would occasionally engage in a Blu-Ray or two, or revert back to some of its cousin the 2's behavior.  It began to grow little specks upon its surface which were allowed to spread until the Grand Turismo program was ready for testing.  The Grand Turismo program also yielded excellent results and was subjected to HOURS of rigorous testing.  My future car is in there so I tested it HOURS constantly aiming to shave another 1,000th of a second off my last time - just like I will do on the expressway in real life when I finally get it.  But I digress - After the GT program, the 3 reverted back to its slothful ways of sitting around doing absolutely nothing.  With the scarce availability of programs to run, there are no longer any tests for me to perform.  The 3 has an uncanny habit of attracting the unseen dust particles from the air and onto its body.  Perhaps this is a way to fend off insects... we may never know.  Until the Heavenly Sword program comes down to us from the heavens above, I fear the 3's massive dust collection will eventually engulf it and consume its innards.  To this day, the cancerous dust growth continues to build until a cure is found.

In a somewhat related story, my Nintendo Wii sat in its egg until I was able to acquire the proper cabling to hook it up for testing.  Due to the inclusion of inferior cables, the Wii, although picked up only days after the 3, sat in its egg until some time last month.  Since hatching it, the Wii continues to please me with its results time and time again.  The WarioWare program testing phase was a blast and still is.  Various Old School retro programs were also tested with the Wii and brought back nostalgic enjoyment like no other.  The Wii does not have the cancerous growth the 3 has exhibited; perhaps it is the 3's spiteful way of seeking vengeance.

To summarize our findings - The Wii gets play while the 3 remains a bench warmer.  Soon we hope to finally recruit the Xbox 360 once it has been equipped with the new cooler running chips and hopefully a sexy HDMI port with eyegasms to boot.

Until next time, this is -LilCoop- signing off for a much-needed anime fix!

Sony Finally Tops My $%!# List...

It was only this morning when I finally decided to by Jump Superstars for my Nintendo DS. I put it in my cart and happily proceeded to checkout. On the second to last step I realized that it never asked for my credit card number or PayPal ID, but started over in an endless loop instead. I thought to myself that they must be working on the site and that I would come back later and place my order.

But no...

Hitting up Kotaku.com and Endgadget.com throughout the day as I usually do, I find out that those bastards over @ Sony friggin sued Lik-Sang and now they are dead. Shut down. No more. Gone...

I have been getting pissed off by many of Sony's actions over the past years and especially over the past few months, but this seals the deal.

Sony - I hate you and wish all the bad things in the world to happen to you, and only you.

Lik-Sang, say it aint so :( You were dearly cherished by the gaming community all over the world. If this is truly good bye, know that you will be missed and you leave behind millions of consumers that loved you to no end and valued your every service dearly.

Today we have lost a hero... gaming will never be the same without you.

PS3 vs Wii vs Xbox 360

Well, if you are reading this expecting to see yet another moron that is comparing the two systems with the same ol "Wii's graphics suck" or "Sony copied Nintendo" or "PS3 is better than 360" and all that crap then you are terribly mistaken.  Yeap, this is going to be more so about the hype and media and stuff like that.

Kicking things off is the 360.  Oh how I hated it's predecessor, the stupid, clunky looking original Xbox.  I hated everything about it - controllers, games, system design, you name it!  Oh, but how I love the 360!  It is a shining example of everything Microsoft is doing right.  It has great games, I love the controller, the system is dead-sexy, and all things about it are great.  As far as what is to come: that's looking great as well.  They have great exclusive titles on the way and that HD DVD drive option is also something to look forward to because who knows which way the future format of movies will go.  I do not see too much point to that camera they are releasing though - who wants to stare at a bunch of guys?  I suppose some girl gamers will be on it too, but I am sure it will be mostly guys and I do not see much point of being able to see the person on the other end.  I guess it has its niche market, but I don't think I will be using that.  I think Microsoft was pretty smart by getting the jump on the next-gen competition and will probably remain a competitor even if the Wii or PS3 turn out to have an edge.

And then there is the PS3.  I don't know about you, but I shake my head in shame when I hear those two letters and that number mentioned together in sequence.  I think Sony is a bunch of cocky bastards and I hope all this crap they talk does not end up biting them in their rears.  On paper, the PS3 is amazing.  If only it turned out that way in real life.  I have heard and read nothing but horror stories about the PS3 - It overheats, takes 3 to 7 minutes to load a game, and does not look all that impressive when compared to a souped up PC or an Xbox 360.  They do a lot of talking over there at Sony and deny things that are obviously the truth.  I know this is just the first generation of games for the PS3 and things should get better and I hope they do.  I hear Resistance is not the Halo killer that they try to make it out to be.  If anything, it is just right there on its level.  MGS4 is looking hot any way you take it and I don't see them messing that game up so my hope is still alive.  As far as accessories go, I hate the PS2 conroller and always end up getting an aftermarket controller that has a better feel in my hand.  Some people don't mind that the rumble feature is gone but I am not one of those people - I am too used to it and don't want to be holding some lifeless controller in my hands.  Microsoft has it, Nintendo has it, so why can't Sony just swallow their enormous pride and pay that company thier dues and have a complete controller.  That Blu-Ray remote they are releasing is ugly and does not compliment the PS3's gorgeous looks either.  Going on about the PS3 is making me question my decision to purchase it, but I guess Sony can do no wrong in my heart.  I will end up buying the thing but you better believe I am getting that fan thingy that I think Nikko makes to keep that beast cool!

Alas, the Wii.  I was getting it from the beginning.  I needed convincing to accept the PS3 into my living room, but not the Wii.  Our friends at humble Nintendo never let me down.  They do everything right and keep the system attractive to everybody.  The Wii is often said to be "for kids" and some nit-pick at the fact that it is not a graphical powerhouse like the PS3 and Xbox 360.  Blah, blah, blah!  Playing the Wii will be a fun experience and I know it because of all the different things they thought of for the DS that brought a new dimension to gaming.  They did it again with the Wii and its immersive gameplay.  I will be having fun with Red Steel, Rayman, Sonic, and whatever else I plan to grab when I want to go Wii.  But what about everybody else???  I do not know how well the Wii will catch on.  Some people are afraid of change, others will look at it and say "that's stupid" and never even give it a try, and others just plain won't buy it no matter what it does.  I just hope it catches on so developers continue to support it and new and exciting titles and accessories continue to become available.  GC didn't last too long and neither did N64, so I can't say what is in store for Nintendo's Wii.  All I know is that I am getting one and expect it to be fun.  Not much else to say abut the Wii, so I guess that wraps that up.

It's all on the table.  PS3 is a mess, Microsoft is shaping up nicely, and I expect great things from the Wii should it catch on.  It's not about graphics and how many FPS your system pushes because no matter how good a game looks I aint gettin it if it plays like crap!  And the least graphically-attractive game may be the best gaming experience you have ever had.  I just want to be able to sit down and enjoy a game rather I am waving my hands around with some controller or not.  Come on Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo - Make us proud!

Sweat the Preorders or Freeze in Line

I plan on grabing both a PS3 and a Wii next month on their launch days.  The way I see it I have two options: preorder or grab em on their release day.  Sweating the preorders is a pain in the butt because nobody wants to share that "sensitive" information and I end up having to call every morning just to make sure they did not decide to go ahead with starting.  I also have to search a bunch of gaming sites just to see if anyone has heard any word of when preorders will begin.  Then there is the wait in line option.  I live in Chicago and it gets frosty-balls cold out here.  The way I see it, the wait will be for at least 1 night, one entire day, and one morning for the PS3 and probably an afternoon and a morning for the Wii.  Now that I think of it, either way I end up waiting in a line because preorders are no different in many cases because you want to be one of the early people on the list so that you have better chances of securing a system on release day and not being forced to wait for the next shipment.  Oh well, either way I guess it's the same thing.

PS3 Launch - Oy!

Hi all!

To who so ever should find their way to my 1st blog here: Thanks 4 Stopping By!

Now on 2 business...

A number of months ago it was brought 2 my attention that soon Sony would B introducing a new friend (or foe, depending on who U R or where U satand) by the name of PS3.  At first I did not care;  It took me years of fighting with them B4 I gave N and finally purchased a PS1 and then the same with the PS2.  I hated the Xbox with a passion but must admit that the Xbox 360 was love @ first sight.  I was a Dreamcast fan and will B buying a new one very soon - My evil Mother threw mine away along with my Nintendo 64 and some of the games.  I curse her existence 2 this day 4 that...

I got off topic - Anyhow, my friend was hyping up the PS3 sooooo much that I finally gave N and decided 2 jump on the bandwagon.  I have been following, waiting, debating, and strategizing since that day.  The PS3 has had it's share of ups and downs much like a roller coaster.  If I had 2 compare it 2 one - I would say the Giant Drop @ Six Flags because they slowly hype U up and suddenly drop U as if from out of the blue in the way of watered down GPU's, pushed back launch dates, crapy BlueRay news, and a slew of other depressing crap.  But none the less - I stay loyal and will B getting my PS3 on launch date @ all costs!  I am also going 2 get the Wii just 4 kicks...

I would write more, but I gotta go 2 class!!!
