Very. It sets a very tense atmosphere, and unlike most movies, keeps that tense atmosphere for over an hour of the film, scaring you along the way.

It's as scary as you make it. I saw it the other night and wasn't scared at all throughout the entire film. It was tense in the begining not knowing when the "Strangers" were going to arive, but after that it was pretty predictable and I saw all the major scar moments prior to them being a big thing. They rely on the same tactic four or five times in the movie, and after the first one you know they are coming. I said it was utter garbage the other night, but it was pretty mediocre. I sure as hell wish I hadn't paid $7.50 to see it because it was only like 80 minutes long.

I saw Vacancy a while back and thought it was pretty mediocre. It was more suspensful than gory but a lot of things that happened in the movie were pretty predictable. The best part of the movie in my opinion was Kate Beckinsale, simply because she is gorgeous.

On a side note, I saw Strangers last night and thought the movie was utter garbage. It used the same scare tactic throughout the whole movie which wasn't all that scary. It reminded me of Vacancy a lot, and the only really creepy thing about the movie was that it was based off of true events. Glenn Howerton was in the movie which was sweet, not for very long. One of the "Strangers" has a mask similar to that of Dr. Salvador in RE4, and I was hoping he would grab a chainsaw, but never did.
