The Thief series is the best imo, but there fairly dated.

Then I gotta say Deus Ex. Even tho its not a stealth game by design, the stealth mechanics work very well.

Then Splinter Cell series, except for the last one. I never thought I was stalking anyone in the last game, I always felt like I was hiding from them instead. Chaos Theory was really good, and Pandora was excellent from what Ive heard.

I also liked Oblivions stealth system, despite its simplicity.

oblivion`s stealth system was pretty broken. get 100% chemeleon gear(not hard to get at all) and you could go completely undetected. I beat the one part of the game where you need to close like 8 gates to get help from other cities in about an hour thanks to that trick.

if you only want to play guitar then get guitar hero 3. Most of the songs are in both games but gh3 exclusive songs are way better than rock band exclusive songs. Rock band will also be more expensive.

also ask yourself these questions:

do I already have a guitar hero controller? the gh2 one will work with gh3

Do I have the coordination required to play drums? its a lot more challenging than a guitar hero game

Can i sing at least half decently? If you can't your friends will hate playing with you.
