The following improvements should be made for better and smoother framerates for ps3 games:

Setting the BD/DVD upscaler set off, HDMI 24fps off, HDMI audio set on bitstream, PS2 upscaler/smoother set off.

Disable system display notify/ mediaserver off / all other automatic setting set to off / internet disable if not multiplaying and other setting etc will all help improve framerates.

Happy Holidays.

Sony Family: 619,000

Xbox 360: 528,000

Wii: 501,000

DS: 496,000

For gamers, Heavenly Sword generated huge buzz in the weeks and months leading up to its release. For industry watchers and analysts, it's more interesting to follow the weeks and months after the game hit shelves.

It appears that many of the hordes of gamers who claimed that they were just waiting for Ratchet to invest in an PS3 were true to their words. Sony family sold nearly 700,000 consoles in September, enough to dethrone the 360, Wii and DS from the top of the charts. Nintendo's motion-sensitive console came in second with 501,000 sold, with the DS close behind with about 496,000 sold.

SCE UK boss Ray Maguire has told MCV that the introduction of the new entry level 40GB PS3 will silence the doubters and take the platform to 'the next level'.

In the week that SCE UK introduced the new SKU at £299 and revealed that the 60GB console is to be phased out, boss Maguire (pictured) stressed that Sony's strategy was the result of industry pressure, falling production costs, and a desire to boost installed base as the industry moves into peak period.

"You've seen in the pages of MCV that most people want the price to come down - we have to take a more strategic view on when we do these things," said Maguire. "We're always mindful of price and installed base, but we're also mindful that we have a sustainable business.

"We've been considering this since launch - this is all part of a very carefully thought-out plan."

Maguire also hit out at the level of anti-Sony feeling on internet forums.

"If the product was too expensive, of course they're going to feel 'anti', but now I imagine there will be some changing of attitudes," he said.

"They don't have sight of running the company and the financials involved. So they end up with internet information - and that is often based on a complete lack of understanding of the facts."

The breaking news today is that Capcom's much milked Monster Hunter series will have an exclusive version on the Nintendo Wii. With the tremendous amount of FUD floating around out there SDF feels the need to step in and give it's unbiased assessment of the news.

This is a great thing for the Sony platform. Sony knows that it needs to look beyond last gen titles and franchises to move forward. Brand new IPs like Resistance, Motorstorm, Lair, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword and the rest will define the Playstation 3 as the number 1 platform this generation... not last gen rehashes like Monster Hunter.
