The amount of tribalism being displayed here is frightening.

[QUOTE="AdobeArtist"]

Why DON'T you just accept that some people prefer consoles?

Actually the real queation is, WHY do you (and so many others) concern themselves with what platform others besides yourself games on? It isn't the "correct" choice if it isn't the same as yours? Is that how it is?

heretrix

I don't understand the binary attitudes of some people here and why it's such a incredibly hard concept that both options have their pros and cons. It's always "I prefer this thing so the other thing is garbage." It's so idiotic.

Thank you.

Oh please. It's a very trivial assumption to assume most people prefer to have only one device in their pockets. Why that's being disputed is beyond me.

Well, for starters, what does it even mean to be "king"? Better graphics, more games, better sales? I'm not sure you can draw a direct comparison, but I will say this: The App Store isn't just for casuals anymore, and some big companies (Epic Games, EA) are starting to realize this. Even though the iPhone was never specifically designed to be a game platform, the reason it has morphed into one is pretty simple to explain: Everyone (even hardcore gamers) needs a cell phone, and most people like to combine all their mobile needs into one single device. Couple this with the fact that the iPhone has good hardware and the touch controls allows for some unique gameplay options, it is just logical that people will want to game on it. Flakeman: Yeah .. no comment.

Yeah, here is the thing about PC gaming: it is really up to you to decide how expensive you want it to be. Getting a top-of-the-line PC is ridiculously expensive. You pay a huge premium to get the latest and greatest for cards that in 2 months lose 50% of their price. However if you're good at investigating, building a medium-high machine can be pretty cheap and will run almost every game (with the rare exception of games like BF3) on high. If you buy high/med but not top of the line cards, you can build a kickass machine for about $600 bucks. Sure, it is more than a console, but the two aren't exactly comparable anyways since PC's do way more than just play videogames.

My predictions are: - Both will get comparable reviews. - Gears 3 will sell more than Uncharted 3. Everyone's speculations in this thread have been based on nothing, just their own personal bias. Considering the fact that both games are exclusives for different platforms, they aren't really competing in the market against each other. The reason I think Gears 3 is going to sell more than Uncharted 3 is simply because there are more 360 owners than ps3 owners out there. Bigger market = more demand = more sales. Which game will I buy (if any)? Uncharted 3.

http://www.gamespot.com/features/6202552/index.html -- that should help ;-) The differences are not extremely significant. I mean both console and PC versions look fantastic, but the PC version is definitely on top.

I think one of the huge factors that makes PC graphics look better is resolution. Most console games run on 720p and scale up to 1080p. They do not run on 1080p natively. PC gaming supports insanely high resolutions that gives a much crisper view. You can only appreciate this with a big monitor. Furthermore Crysis (which still looks bloody fantastic in my opinion) is from 2007, it's already 3 years old. The mere fact that people still consider it graphics king after nearly 3 years is an amazing accomplishment for the game, but it's no surprise it's not the flagship it used to be.
