The second world war was the most desctructive conflict in human history. It was when the allied nations of Britain, France, Canada, The United States, China, Australia and many others(For a full list of Allied Countries, please look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allies_of_World_War_II) fought a massive war against the axis countries of Germany, Japan and Italy (For a full list of the Axis powers, look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axis_powers) to preserve freedom. In the early 1930s, Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party gained power in Germany. The nazi party has a strong hate for minorities, which would lead to the holocaust: The racial based genicide of jews, blacks, and non-germans.

In september of 1939, Hitler invaded poland, triggering the second world war. Britain and france declared war on germany. Soon after, The germans occupied france. Many belligerents entered the war before or after this date, during a period which spanned from 1937 to 1941, as a result of other events.Amongst these main events are the The battle between chinese and japanese forces at the marco polo bridge, the start of Operation Barbarossa(Germany's invasion of russia), and the attack on Pearl Harbor on December seventh, 1941.

Pear harbor was the american navy's base of operations in the pacific, and in december of 1941, two years after the war started(The war lasted 6 years), most of the american fleet was stationed there. On december seventh, japan launched an air raid that would cost 2000 american lives, forcing the United States to enter the war.

Four years later, in 1945, the war ended. More then sixty years later, in 2009, most people tend to forget about most nations who fought in the war, but they never forget the United States. Oh yeah, America fought world war 2 and won! Hey people, REALITY CHECK!!! The war was already 2 years started when the US joined.

These days, most books don't even aknowledge Canada or Australia's or any other country's role in the war. Most people seem to believe that Britain was the only country besides the U.S, and that it played a backseat role. Now this stuff just pisses me off! The fact is only influenced by video games, in which the traditional formula is that the player plays as an american soldier on the frontlines, laying waste to hundreds of german soldiers all by himself, usually with only british soldiers at most as allies. The only video game i know that aknowledges anyone else is Call of Duty 3. However, this game is slightly unacurate since all the canadian soldiers just HAVE to have a quebec accent/name. My grandfather fought in the war, and he saw lots of dudes called jones or doyle or any other assorted english name. Other than that game, no other has portrayed Poland or Canada, And only a handfull of games show russia.

Why is this? Because it has become common belief that america was in the war at the start and fought in every battle to the end, when the truth is that the americans participated mostly in the important battles, and that they played the star role in publicity even if other countries faced the same odds and suffered worse casualties.

Come on people, dont only give credit to the U.S. Think of russia,canada, australia,france! Think of the other countries man!
