Nostalgia

Have you ever felt the need to play an older game from the past, just because it was such an incredible game when you first discovered it? I've found myself occasionally drawn to play great games from my past. Even though I buy the occasional new game, I still find myself playing games from the past like X-com: UFO defense, Total Annihilation, and Master of Orion 2.

To me, these games are timeless clas-sics. Even compared to today's games, with better graphics and a more options, they still amaze and entertain me to this day. Some games can't hold a candle to the feeling of white knuckled tension when you send your X-com squad on its very first mission to a crash site. In every time I've played through Fallout 2, I've stumbled upon something new - be it an object, pop culture reference, or random encounter. I can still laugh at some of the jokes in The Secret of Monkey Island 1 & 2. I recently played Planescape: Torment all the way through again, and marveled at how interesting and strange the story is, as well as enlightening. I still feel it's one of the best RPGs ever made. It is a true testament to the quality of a game that after a decade I can still enjoy playing it. You might want to consider dusting off one your old favorites, as I know I'll be inexorably drawn back every once in a while to an old favorite.
