Hey, my PS3 got a system file corruption that can't be repaired, i tried going into safe mode and i used the restore default settings which apparently also gets rid of the PSN profiles that were on the PS3. When my PS3 eventually gets fixed or even if i get a new one can i still use the original PSN ID that i had before or can i not use that one anymore?

Does that also mean that Trophies are gone and online stats for COD games etc?

Thanks

I've got my original PS3 HDD somewhere and i think that should work, but I cant figure out why it keeps trying to restore the corrupted file system, it finishes it once and then the PS3 restarts and it repeats the same process, i tried going onto the PS3's safe mode and that did nothing since i cant access the restore database option because it says 'cant access Hard Drive". I've repeated the 'restore file system' process about 8 times consecutively.

I have no idea what to do, i think my only option is to completely restore it by wiping everything off but i dont want to do that just yet.

Hi, I checked quickly to see if there was a topic similar but i couldnt find anything, i apologise if there is already a topic such as this one, im a little worried about my PS3

Basically it constantly asks me to restore the file system, i click ok and it finishes and then the process is repeated. Is there something wrong or do I just keep repeating the restoration?

It always seems to stop at about 19% and then moves to 48% and then finishes.

Any help would be great, thanks

Very late reply, but i have switched to component since the HDMI doesnt work, i borrowed a cable from a friend and it wouldnt work, i used the same cable on the dvd player and picture showed on the screen so i think the HDMI port on the PS3 is definately wrecked.

But as for the storm side of things, i read that HDMI cables conduct electricity from storms, so even if the PS3 wasn't connected to the power it still would have been shocked by the HDMI cable. This was a very violent storm though and the neighbours house was hit - so the level of electricity was high. Basically if theres a violent storm nearby i recommend taking out the HDMI cable too, it conducts electricity on its own - no idea how though.

That was my first idea too, unfortunately i dont have a spare so im getting a friend to bring one over before i buy a new one, but im just worried about the fact that the actual port could be damaged because i've heard of people who had their ports burnt out because of electrical damage from storms.

If damage is done to the ps3 HDMI port, chances are that the Tv's HDMI port will be damaged too right?

Hi, a few days ago there was a storm in my area, i unplugged the ps3 along with other electrical devices in the house from power outlets, so i can safely say there was no direct electrical damage. But when i went to play the ps3 again no image showed up on the tv, i tried restarting and holding down the reset button so it could detect output but still nothing. So i got my composite cables and checked if the ps3 still works and it does. So i took out my HDMI cable and tried it on the dvd player and it still didnt work, so my guess is that the cable is wrecked, but i was also worried that my HDMI port on the ps3 would be ruined too because i've heard of other people who had HDMI ports on other devices damaged by electricity from storms.

So is it possible that the HDMI port on my ps3 is damaged?

Thanks

i wish they'd release an app for it for universal function, not just games, but in xmb as well.conquerorsaint

Yeah i know thats why i said the best thing to have would be an option from the PS button, where all the other options are like quit game and turn off system; click the PS button and then click screen cap!

well Sony only added the ability to do screen caps a couple months ago.. so i imagine that alot more games released next year will have the feature...

ok well hopefully they do, it would be nice to be able to take pics of awesome moments in-game
