2006 is looking better for a next-gen system right now

I just saw the trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and it looked amazing. And it is done on PS3 alpha kits  (we all know those are weaker than the final kit). It seems PS3 is quite noticiably more powerful than Xbox360. Plus the Blu-Ray drive for HD movies adds a lot to the system. We'll see at X05 if Microsoft has what it takes to compete (but for online 360 is the law).

Also, with the unveiling of the Revolution's controller, it seems wise to wait until everyone has already shown everything they've got. Nintendo has yet to show a lot more things. And Sony has that conference in January 2006 where they plan to answer all questions that have yet to be answered.

One thing I have started to despise through the years is having multiple systems. For such a reason I sold my GBA the other day. Even though it had good games, PSP was still the better system (and by a lot). So I kept the better system and got rid of the thrash (the GBA). Same thing when I had PS1 and N64, PS2 and GC, etc. Life is easier when you only have to worry about buying games for one system for each category (only 1 console, 1 handheld, and 1 pc).

So next-gen it's: PSP for handheld, and one next-gen console (PS3 or 360). And after seeing that teaser video for the Revolution I would consider that something different; so it can be included on the list as something else and buy it.
