[QUOTE="Sweeneykill"]I'm going to get my ass kicked for saying this.RandoIphUh, no, you won't. About a dozen or more people have already named Halo and COD in this thread, and a dozen more will name it next time the exact same thread is made. Not liking Halo stopped being special in 2003, not liking COD has never been special at all. I'm not sure where people ever get the idea that it's a unique thing to not like huge mainstream FPS, especially when more posts are made on forums like this about how much people hate them, than people who enjoy them. (and oddly enough almost all of them have the thread title that starts with "Am I the only one..." even though it's the third thread on the subject in only so many hours) Well whenever else I have mentioned it, I've been attacked by fanboys. I've never understood the obsession with those two games.

There might be a way to do it in-game. As in the main menu of the game.
But I assume that by the "menu" not having that option you might have tried that?
I'm going to get my ass kicked for saying this.
- Halo
- Call of Duty
Don't get me wrong, I've played both. Including majority of the COD games. I just feel what was once awesomeness, has now dragged on for so long to become...not so awesome. I prefer the old COD games to the new ones. And there just seems to be this huge hype about these two games specifically.
I know people that simply don't like the horror genre. I have someone in my family. They don't like to watch horror movies, so of course they don't want to play horror games. I guess there are three categories. People who simply don't like the genre, people who don't get scared, and people who like to get scared. Or at least that's how I'd explain it... Although I'm a mixture. I like playing horror games. But will you find me playing Dead Space 2 with drawn curtains, surround sound, and no one else in the apartment but me? No.
Well there's a couple of shooters I'd recommend. I've actually spent money buying all of them, so to me, they are worth the money.
All japanese games have bad dialogue? That's a bit harsh. I very much doubt you have played ALL the japanese games out there...
Last Remnant? You should listen to the dialogue in that game. Blew my mind up. Final Fantasy XIII, another game with great dialogue. Full of emotion, and good script writing. So to say that all japanese games have bad dialogue is a bit harsh, you probably haven't played the right ones. Plus, the fact that Japanese is spoken differently to English. What you might think is akward, isn't for the Japanese. (Or speakers of other asian languages).
But I'm unsure if you're talking about Japanese games, or Japanese games that have been dubbed to English?
Borderlands isn't exactly classified as an RPG with a permanent marker though. From what I've heard, and my own experience playing it, I'd label it as a shooter with an RPGish element. (Leveling up, skill tree, etc.) But I would defiently not call it an RPG, without adding "elements" or "twist" or "hint" first.
What type of shooter are you after? First person? Third person? And for what console? But here's a list of some good shooters with a mixture:
- Dead space (Third person shooter)
- Borderlands (First person shooter, with an RPGish twist)
- BioShock (First person shooter)
- Battlefield: Bad Company
- Gears of War 1 & 2 (Third person shooter) Xbox 360 exlusive
- Left 4 Dead (First person shooter)
- Rainbowsix Las Vegas (First person shooter) SWAT kind of game
Action games:
- Prototype
- Star Wars: Force Unleashed
