hi everyone whos reading, this is 4sphinx and i had an idea for my first, hopefully not last, subject/idea for a topic. it is a weekly/ daily or whenevery i would like to post set of Q and A about funny/ odd questions dealing from "why are flamingos pink?" to "who was the first Ronald McDonald?" all information is credited to Bill McLain who is the person from which i'm getting the information and will continue to be credited until i change source.
1.Q: WHAT MAKES FLAMINGOS PINK?
A: most birds in the world are a certain color because of genetics. for example, a chicken can be white, brown, red due to what they inherit form their parents. but this is not the case for flamingos. "So then why are flamingos pink?" Flamingos are pink not because of what they inherit but of what THEY EAT! flamingo eat food that is rich in a substance called Carotenoid. Carotenoid is found in such organisms as insect larva, crustaceans/shrimps crab, and algae.
so their you have it. anyone who reads this tell me how you like it, be a critic, tell me how i can improve on these. if you do like it tell me a certain question that you have and ill try to find the answer and post it.
sorry, earlier i didn't say why flamingos turn pink while humans and animals dont turn pink when they have carotenoid. the flamingo itself does not turn pink. only its feathers are affected and turn pink. flamingos digest carotenoid differently as well which is why their feathers turn pink instead of other birds turning pink as well. i hope that clears the air of question. if not just comment and tell me what you think and if you like the idea of these questions.
