at that res with no AA, games will mostly run smooth if all settings are low. if they are low its gonna run awesome. but if u sacrifice resolution instead (crank down to 1440X900 instead) u might eek back some detail in the textures.

So maybe 1440x900 with Med.Settings and No AA would be best choice?

Hi, I recently have upgraded my almost obslete PC. I am wondering if it will play newish games at 1680x1050 smoothly. AMD Athlon II X4 620 XFX 4670 1GB DDR2 2x2GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM I don't require the games to have AA on, but if they can then that would be a bonus. I want to play FPS games and Racing Games.

Alright for gaming, but for a couple of quid extra you get a 2.8Ghz quad instead http://www.ebuyer.com/product/176579

I think that althrough you have to pay for Xbox Live that can be considered a good thing as people who just want to simply annoy other people are unlikley to pay to do so. And it isn't that expensive. Some sites offer 13 months of Live (almost 400 days) for just a mere £27. Thats what, £2 a month! Barely annoying.

Also another benifit for paying is that Microsoft can afford to keep the servers running.
