Overrated Garbage like the first one. NG is a better game by a long shot. On any platform.Godslay
I gotta agree with this guy. The first one was fun but by no means a masterpiece. I suppose for a PS2 game it's quite good but thats not saying too much. God of War was like Devil May Cry. Yet another game I thought was overated. You're doing the same stuff over and over again. New enemy, new puzzle. New enemy, new puzzle. New weapon, new enemy, new puzzle. Granted i haven't played the sequal yet so I can't really say anything bad about it. But it looks the same as the first one! And whats the deal with the fixed camera view?

[QUOTE="Imallvol7"][QUOTE="REVOLUTIONfreak"][QUOTE="Imallvol7"][QUOTE="REVOLUTIONfreak"][QUOTE="Imallvol7"][QUOTE="REVOLUTIONfreak"]Seems unbiased.... but most people agree that if (as you even said) the 360 is better and more inexpensive then why not just get it instead of the PS3? I kind of laughed when you said how you got it, because most people can easily find a PS3 on store shelves collecting dust by now (I know I've seen them).REVOLUTIONfreak
because he wants to play all the great games you are going to miss out on?

I'm not exactly trying to argue here, so why are you furthering my comment? Sounds like your a cow.... either way, you could say the same thing about the 360 and Wii. I have both, so I guess you are going to miss out on the great games they have to offer as well

because I am getting a 360? my room mate has a wii? whats your point

You tell me. Your first statement didn't really make any sense. Like I said, I could say the same thing for people who don't own a Wii or 360. I simply don't want a PS3, and I doubt I will anytime in the near future regardless of what people's opinions are.

you said the 360 is better and more inexpensive, so you shouldnt get a 360. I think your a little confused.

Ummmm.... what are you talking about? I recommended it in my post, not the other way around.

I'm glad i wasn't the only one confused while reading that.

nice review. I have both systems too and am loving ps3. I love gears of war. It has amazing graphics but resistence is more fun IMO.  If you like boxing FNR3 shouldnt be missed.  GT:HD was fun too for a bit.  I am awaiting VF5 very anxiously.  Dave_NBF
Fight Night i bought for 360 a few months ago. It's a wicked game. Multiplat games I'll probably buy for the Xbox just because me and my big bro kinda share the 360. And i have three controlers for 360 and only one for PS3 right now.

I thought of just one more little itch that I didn't understand with the PS3. It only came with composite cables. The standard AVI Yellow, Red, and White. I Spent twenty bucks on Mad Catz Component cables and I'm looking into HDMI cables for the BluRay movies. I thought it was really weird that a system that praises itself on HD, didn't include the HD cables. But on another note. It's incredibly easy to move video files from the computer to the PS3. Whether it's through a datastick, or the PSP. I can put them on the Hardrive and watch them on my TV through the system.

[QUOTE="needo37"]Thank you for your post. I found it very well thought out and covered both sides well. I am in the market for a next-gen console. Honestly, the one thing that is keeping me from getting a PS3 is not the lack of games but the HDTV requirement. I currently don't have a HDTV and won't for quite awhile. So to purchase the system I'm looking at around $2,600 for a HDTV plus the PS3. The XBox 360 does not have this issue with their VGA cables. I can hook it up to a LCD monitor capable of HDTV resolutions at a fraction of the price. If the PS3 released VGA cables I would really have to rethink my position.

The visuals of PS3 is a letdown if you use standard def. It downgrades it a lot. Also as far as i can tell all games are widescreen natural, so full screen TV's cut off the sides a bit. It was very noticible in Motorstorm.

[QUOTE="navneet21"][QUOTE="Imallvol7"]sooo good to read something like this in here for once made all the right pointsStrakha

some people on system war actually have a brain...

Maybe not. He just made an impluse buy from someone desperately wanting to get rid of the system and to me it looks like he is trying to convince himself his impluse buy was right. That's what I gathered from the post anyway. Someone should tell Sony that the PS3 is now an impluse buy too :)

Actually you couldn't be more wrong. I was planning on buying one eventually because of MGS. I love that series. But this oppurtunity came up and i took it. And now i have a BluRay player so i can get full use out of my 56" HDTV. Thats sort of my point. Even though it doesn't have all the games right now. If you're gonna use all the features it's still a great system.

First let me just say how I got it. I'm sure it will make a few PS3 fans jealous. My brothers friend bought a 60GB PS3 at launch with Resistance. He's played it for about twenty hours total. But now he's moving to Mexico and he doesn't want it. He offers to sell it to me for $500 Canadian. "Oh hell yes!" I say. So i got a near-mint 60GB PS3, with Resistance for only $500 bucks flat. If I had bought it all new it would have come to about $880 bucks. I saved a lot! Okay, now for what i actually think about the system. First, I am a proud owner of a 360 since launch, and a Wii since launch. I don't know anything about computer hardware or any of that fuzzytalk, so please don't respond with a "PS3 is harder to work on" Blah Blah Blah. I'm not a programmer, I only play the games I don't build em'! First thing i notice. The system is huge. Bigger then my 360. But I don't care because I'm not moving it much once I put it down. So I wire it up to my 56" HDTV and turn it on. First thing I do is restore the PS3 to it's defaults because i want to start from scratch, and not use my friends info. This take about ten minutes tops. The system restarts and i start a new profile. Since I have a PSP, I recognize the menu, they are very easy to navigate. I plug in my internet connection from my computer. The PS3 says it needs to update. I accept and begin downloading. Twenty minutes later it's finished, I restart it and connect to the internet. I create an online username/profile which took about five minutes. Now I'm on the Sony store and DL the Motorstorm demo. So far everything is going very smoothly. No lag during the menu's, and no lag during online. Thirty minutes later the demo is done. I then decide to use the internet browser. First thing I notice is that it says I can plug in a keyboard and mouse. So i unplug the K/M from my Mac and plug it in the front USB ports. Works perfectly. If only i could use it for gaming! Again no lag during internet surfing. Works perfect so far. So finally I decide to play Resistance. I put it in and the game loads up. I begin a new campaign. First thing i notice is how smooth the controls are. I really hated all the FPS for the PS2 because the controls always felt clunky. Looks like they fixed that problem. So after playing Resistance for about a total of six hours now (not in one sitting) I've decided thats it's a really good game. Easily deserves a high 8 if i were to rate it. The graphics are quite nice too. There are a some levels that are a lot less detailed then the rest which it really odd. But then some levels (eg. Manchester streets) Look amazing when in 720p. I was really surprised. It easily beats 360's launch FPS Perfect Dark Zero in all categories. In Game play and graphically. So... Now I try the Motorstorm demo. In the last week I've been playing Excite Truck on the Wii. It's one hell of a fun ride. You just get really excited when playing it. It's very addictive. So of course in game play I sort of compared the two. Motorstorm is one crazy game so far. I've played the demo about thirty times now. If the full game is as good as it should be then i might just buy it when it comes out. Overall it's quite different then Excite Truck. But the demo gave me almost as much fun as one of Excite Truck's many races. Graphically the game looks amazing. There's no doubt about that. And the physics are quite incredible. I have a feeling it will raise the bar on what racers should be like. Also I was playing Gran Turismo HD. And all though the game is not my cup of tea, The graphics look very good. But the real surprise is when you watch the replay of the time trial you just did. I swear, it looks photo realistic. My jaw dropped while watching it. The replay feature has the best graphics I've ever seen. I have no doubt that in the future the game play will look just as good. It really is amazing how realistic the replay looks. So... I've had the PS3 for about five days now and still zero problems. I'm really surprised. What's even more surprising is how much noise the PS3 makes. Or i should say, lack of. This thing sounds like a regular DVD player. I couldn't believe it. Compared to the 360, this things a whisper. It gets a little worm on top but no more hotter then the 360 does. The whole system has really caught me off guard by how much it's impressed me. Yes i know the 360 can do all that too. Please no flamers saying "everything PS3 can do, 360 can do better". I'm not saying all this to compare systems or say one is better. I'm simply stating my impression of the PS3 so far. Now that I've said lots of good things about the PS3, time for a few Cons. The most obvious. Lack of games. But then again the 360 didn't have a great launch. Seeing as how I needed Oblivion for me to actually want to play the system on a regular basis. So if by the end of march there aren't any killer apps then maybe I'll start sweating. But overall I'll wait till the end of the year when it's had time to put out some more titles. (MGS I'm looking at you) At the moment, thats really the only thing I hate about the system. Whenever they start bringing out more games and more demos online then I'll be even more happier. But overall I really like the PS3. It's easy to say the 360's better (and i would agree with you) but they had a year ahead of them. Only time will tell which has the better games. But at the moment, I have powerful gaming machine, and a top of the line BluRay player. So far it has all been worth it. I really didn't like the PS2 so I bashed the PS3 quite a bit. But now I'm the proud owner of a PS3. We just need more games to come out. Once again please, no flamers stating this or that. I know the 360 has better games, I'm sure I own most of them. All I want to say is please try the system for a while before judging it. I went in completely biased towards the PS3. And I've come out really liking it. Just make sure you have a HDTV...

The disk swapping excuse is SO LAME.

First off i have a PS3 and everytime you have to do a filmware update which is like every other week it seems. You have to reconnect your USB cable to your PS3 controller to re turn the controller on. And this is way more of a pain then having to switch a disk in a game that will be far and few on 360.

So this is the FACTS and the TRUTH so i would say PLEASE NEVER EVER EVER try and use the disk swapping excuse EVER EVER again. Because the real TRUTH is it will be very far and few if you ever do on the 360. And even so it's nowhere near as much of a pain as having to reconnect your PS3 controller to restart the controller every time you do the seemingly very often Sony filmware updates.

So anyone that would further try and continue to say the disk swapping excuse. Is doing nothing more then giving and extremely bad name to the Sony fans/Cows!

Anyone that would dispute this is clearly not on an ave, intelligence level as the rest of us.

So yes the TRUTH is it's more of a PAIN owning a PS3 then it would ever be having to swap a disk on 360.

Are any of you guys useing an HDTV. That makes a huge differance with the PS3. I had just finished Rainbow Six Vegas when i started Resistence. And Resistence looked almost as good as RBV when in it's natural 720p resolution. I also played it on a standard TV. Where it then started looking like a very good original Xbox game. It downgrades it a lot. It looks better then 360's launch title Perfect Dark Zero though. Thats for sure.
