DmC is honestly up there with 1 and 4 for me, as far as what tier of quality it belongs on. The game is easier than previous entries in the series, yes, but it's not so easy as to make it feel as if the game is playing itself or anything, like Enslaved kind of felt.
By the way, for those who haven't played it yet: The combat feels fluid and fantastic. Not as hard to master as DMC 3 or 4, but the ability to swap five weapons out on the fly and in mid-combo allows you to create your own string of attacks easily. That's a plus in my book.
Also, the new Dante isn't nearly as awful as I thought he would be. The whole game is far more understated as far as the way characters behave but it's more easy to relate to, and the story as a whole is definitely of a different, and better, quality than that of previous games.
I don't know. Even as a long time fan of the DMC series and a naysayer of this iteration up until recently, I have to say that Ninja Theory surprised me in a good way with their effort and I can't wait to see what they can do with a second game.
