I will say this, if xbox live Gold survives into the next gen, I am jumping ship to something else. I am not paying money to microsoft to play games with my friends when I already pay my ISP for that. It is not 2001 anymore.
@leviathanwing stick to gaming sunshine, leave the business section to the grown ups. The fiscal cliff hasnt kicked in yet, and when it does (in at least 2 stages), the world will be rocked by it. The sheer amount of debt makes spains GDP look like a credit card bill. Go troll elsewhere, you havent had a constructive comment to make to any on this thread.

I can't see the argument for the new xbox having a tablet. There are 3 problems; first it is re-inventing the wheel; the world has ipads, just develop the existing ipad software for the new console.
Second point, cost. The ipad is the best pad and it aint cheap. Which means to get attention away from the ipad, you are going to have to start matching it's parts cost list. Do we really think the world in this economic climate (fiscal cliff says hello america) can afford the price of a high grade pad on top of the cost of a new console?
Third point as we have seen when hooking up pads to the current gen console, your eyeballs can only be at one place at one time. The entire idea of two screens way apart from each other is pretty stupid for anything other than RPG when you need to look at your map.
congratulations for this article, a brave move considering the site relies on good contact with MS for game reviews. That said, this has been long over due. My account has been silver for more than a year, I refuse to pay for what is free elsewhere. Anybody who does is a fool.
I like this, suggestion for another gamer type. Perhaps others can come up with a name, but we all know this type; When we get on a good online game most of us like to throw a little mild acting into it to make it fun; moan when we have been stabbed, cry for help when we are about to get over run etc. This new gamer type is like an accountant with a joystick. They know every angle of every map and just spout trivia at you in that smart ass way about how you will get killed here or there, and have absolutely no emotion whatsoever, to the point where you end up doing a 'blue on blue' just to get them out of your hair.
Sohere is referring to new titles that have always on DRM to combat piracy. Server shutdown means it can very easily be misused to make last years game stop working all together, forcing you to upgrade.
I find myself agreeing with portions of several types. I am an introvert with games like Skyrim (do I have a choice though?) and I love puzzle solving where it matters, like the 1 hour defend on GRAW 2 - that will put hair on your chest.
