"Now, he said, competition comes through devices like Amazon's Kindle or Apple's iPad.

"And people like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft need to match that. They need to match that in my mind, and exceed it. And I'm not sure the Wii U really did that," he said."

And want to know why they will never ever match the iPad? Micro-transaction pricing scale, that's why. When MS demo'd microtransactions with a hybrid of Forza 1, they showed people being able to buy a car part from almost nothing in real money. That is how the system should work. All product is very cheap, hence 'micro'. You make your money on huge volumes of sales.

The reality? Apple have made sure amazing games stay at the price of a chocolate bar and are reaping the rewards in a tough economic climate. Meanwhile, MS are issuing games that can double in price with a useless season pass, and offering DLC that costs more than 20, 30 or even 40 app store entire games.

Game over as far as I am concerned.

considering the topic, the finished article is a wasted opportunity. The only thing the writer didn't waffle on about off-topic was his sock drawer.

loved elite on my C64. And that sentence contains a wealth of advice; The game was a BBC game and was quickly ported to C64. This dude wants 1.5m to make a 'PC' only game. Sorry, I have money in my bank and a Mac on my desktop. You fail

for me, the warthog controls are and have always been,,,sucky. To put this in perspective, the 360 controller is in use to control UAV's in war zones, real life, so lets not blame the controller here. The gearing and inertia code are just complete and total pants for warthog use. Sort it out!

This concept is just going to explode all over the net, it is hilarious. Nothing puts focus on how ludicrous troll comments are, until they are read out loud by another person. Keep it up, 12 out of 10.

PS can you feed some more PC gamer-rig troll vomit in, that was just....out there.......

xbox 360 out in 2005, replacement out in 2014, so they shaved 12 months off their 10 year cycle idea. Whoopeedoo. It is like watching an arrogant bunch of african water buffalo bulls telling the heard you are going this way, we are in charge. Meanwhile, the Apple, PC, and smartphone and tablet lions are hiding in the grass waiting to destroy the consoles claim to peoples free time.

What can I say, the world has moved on.

Going to agree with Harada on this. The console makers have encouraged people to support their product like they are fans supporting a sports team. Where has it got us? A very expensive PS3, a cranky wii with crankier graphics, and an xbox that has a lower life span than a fly.

But look at the good stuff they could all bring to a single machine, reliability, affordable price tag, amazing IP library, innovative control systems and fantastic online software. Imagine that, all in one box. Makes being a fanboy look a little short sighted in comparison.

"We don't see a lot of lawsuits between the big players going after each other, and I think part of that is because copying of gameplay is rampant in the industry."Eric Goldman.

I have a suggestion to prove this point. Can we, as Gamespot viewers make a list of 'prior art' that proves that while these 2 games look similar, they are both ripping off key concepts from earlier games.

I will start the ball rolling on this, with 2 examples.

1; Isometric fixed camera angles. The earliest example of this I can find is a game called Knight Lore, released on 1980's home computers by Ultimate way back in 1984.

2. Avatars that lead their own lives with no direct input control from the player, leaving the game player as essentially an observer or pet owner. Little Computer People, released by Activision in 1985.

Can any of you find other examples these 2 games have ripped things from, like the pastel like graphics?
