Side-Effect: Ep.1 - Ch.5: The Aftermath, pt. 2 (UPDATE!!)

(Hey guys, I am going to post this chapter early, however, you wont get chapter 6 for at least two more weeks or so...this will give time for those who are behind to catch up, and give me time to get ahead of my writings, or not ahve to worry about it while on vacation :D)

(Also, I will be posting a trailer for Episode 2, and a look ahead to Episode 3 (favorite :D) after Chapter 7...Just a warning, episode 2 will probably be the most uninteresting or so of the episodes, but it plays a critical part in the future, particularly Brandon's....Well, I probably won't be on here for a few days, let alone really read or comment on anything in a week, so I'll talk to you all later, and leave you with this....)

Saturday, September 6, 2:15 p.m.

"So, how's Das?" Jake asks as him and Jason sits inside a taxi, riding downtown.

"He's fine; he just sprained it real bad, he's going to be let out today. Doc said he just needs to avoid running and he'll be just fine."

"Great! So, how'd it go between you and Rachel?"

"You saw that, you peeper!"

"I saw nothing but a big light coming down from the sky."

"Whoa! You saw it?" the taxi driver interrupts.

"What?" Shawn says

"The meteor" he says, "You witnessed it?"

"It barely missed my house."

"Have you heard anymore from it?"

"No. Why?"

"I heard that there have been reports of meteors all over the U.S."

"Looks like the shower was more like a disaster."

"They're saying that what the scientists told them was they didn't expect the meteors to pummel to Earth, but just pass by, and even if they did enter the atmosphere, they'd burn up."

"Wow."

"Everyone, including me, is amazed...I can't believe you were that close."

"Dude, we were in the crater!"

"Hey, you know what?" Jake says has he sticks his hand into his jacket pocket. He pulls out a rock.

"Here...this is from the meteor."

He hands the rock to the cab driver.

"Eh, nothing special, some reports are said to have glowing."

"This one was glowing when he gave it to me!"

"Yeah, that's right, it was, kind of cool, if you ask me."

He hands the rock back. "I think we're lucky New York only got a few hits. There was one in Central Park, one hit the Hudson River, and then one hit in a small neighborhood.

"That would be the one we saw." Jake said has he takes back the rock.

Meanwhile...

In the middle of Central Park, Nicholas lies on the cement walkway, knocked out. There were quarters on his back from where people threw them on him, thinking he's a homeless person. He starts to come to conscience, but is majorly freaked out.

Dark...dark...CAN'T SEE!!

He shivers just from the thoughts of it. He walks back to the crater, slowly. And inside is just a bunch of rocks and dirt, nothing special.

"Odd...maybe I'll just go back home, grab a cup of coffee, and...Oh no, my home!"

He quickly runs back to his house which was just near Central Park, to find the roof caved in, from the shockwave of the impact.

"Sh1t."

His cell phone goes off; the ring tone is quite dark and gloomy. He tries to look at the caller ID, but his screen is all cracked. Nick was about to lose it as he answers his phone, holding back the anger.

"Hello?"

"Nicholas!"

"Who is this?"

"We need you to come into the bank, one of our employees fell sick, and now we have no one to cover your position."

"What?"

"Please, Nick, we have no one!"

"My house is destroyed because of a meteor shower, and you want me to come in for work?"

"It'll only be 'till three, until Andrew comes back...please Nick."

"Fine, I'll be there."

He hangs up; he looks at his clothes, which is just jeans, a blue t-shirt, and a lab coat. They're all dusty and dirty from sleeping last night. He then walks over to look inside the bedroom, to find all his clothes buried under concrete, brick and rock.

"Yeah, my life officially sucks now."

Meanwhile...

Inside a dark alley way, lying against a trashcan is Joshua; his clothes are wet from the puddles he's been sitting in; His face was tilted down, almost has if he was sleeping. He takes his hands, and pulls himself up. His hands were a pure black. His head tilts up, his hair falls back behind his head. And his face is a pure black, with his glowing red eyes.

Joshua had a hard time getting up, he used the wall to brace himself, as he walked out onto the street, the sunlight hit him hard, and he covered his face with his arm, soon he got used to it. He walked out onto the sidewalk, hoping to get back into his old apartment. As he walked up to a lady walking his way, she gave him a weird look, and when he showed her his red eyes, she screamed. He is just as shocked as she was. She ran away.

He looked into the reflection of a store window, and was shocked at what he saw. His face was a pure black...he put a hood over his head to avoid being seen, but when he looked over at the lady, who was talking to two cops, he decided to walk the other way.

30 minutes later...

After taking the long way back to his house, Joshua finally made it there...he opens his door to find a chalk mark on the wall, from where the girl died, and a bunch of yellow tape scattered across. "Must be in lunch break." He says

Joshua quickly runs into his bedroom and looks to the mirror. His face is completely black, his eyes are white now, but his pupils are red.

"What the hell is happening to me?"

He starts to remember last night, but he can't remember anything after touching the rock.

"That's it" he looks at his hand and there are markings on his hand from where it had burned in. the markings glowed a bright white on his black hand. He lies down on the bed, and just takes a deep breath.

"Cursed rock, make my skin black...As if I wasn't already black enough."

His eyes close, his heart rate begins to slow down, and his skin begins to fade into his normal skin color...the markings on his hand turn a black. He lays there for only a few minutes before hearing voices. He quickly perks his head up. His heart rate begins to heighten again. His eyes glow red as two cops walk in, one of them carrying a cup of coffee.

Joshua tries to stay as quiet as possible. He gets off of the bed, and kneels down behind the bedroom door, hoping he can get to the bedroom window without being seen. When the cops turn their backs, he makes his move, but his left foot hit the door and it squeaks loud. Both cops turn around; Joshua just stands still, his heart races. His eyes glow a bright red now.

"What is happening to him?" The cop yells.

His skin turns to a dark black, the white glow steams down his hands followed by a black stream that fills it in, making the lines unnoticeable.

Both cops draw their weapons, only to look back up and see nothing but darkness. Both of them point all around, as they hear voices in the background. Two red eyes appear behind them. One of the cops head suddenly turns sideways, a crack his heard as he falls to the ground.

The other cop shoots into darkness. He sees two red eyes in front of him, and then his skin shrivels up, his face turns a grey, he struggles for breath, and falls to the ground, his arm still hanging in the air.

The darkness fades away, and it is revealed a black body, Joshua, holding the arm of the now dead cop. He lets the arm drop, and climbs out the window and onto the roof via fire escape stairs.

His skin begins to turn his normal Mexican color.

"Now this, I could get used to!"

About an hour later...

Dasiou arrives at his house, limping on his foot. His parents ask if he wants anything to eat or drink, he just says no, and walks up to his room, and sits at his desk. There is a computer in front of him, a couple of books to his left, and some dead plants inside a glass from his science project. His mouse starts to mess up.

"I hate this thing!"

He smacks it down on the desk, hoping to get it working and some kind of force travels through his hand, and across the desk. Dasiou falls back. His papers and books went flying, the computer turned off, and the plants were alive, but were slowly fading down.

He gets up, and rubs his head, also watching not to put too much pressure on his leg. He watches the plant fall down slowly, and then looks at his hands.

He sticks his hand toward the flower, his hand lights up with energy as the flower lifts his head up, in life.

He looks around his house, and then outside his window where he sees a stick sticking up from the ground where his dog was buried.

If this...Nah! It couldn't...could it?

He quickly runs out of his room, forgetting about the leg as he trips to the ground, and stumbles down the stairs
