Tourist Trophy

I recently purchased this game with my spare credit at Gamestop. I am a big fan of GT as a series and of motorcycle racing. I am truly astounded and amazed by how much I love this game. The graphics are fantastic (Especially since I dislike cockpit views.) The gameplay is good and there is a pretty large array of challenges to be completed. However, I as a racing game veteran did find the head start handicap a little frustrating. I did not feel it was too challenging just I felt the game could have benefited more from a grid start. I do love almost everything else about the game however. They only other major complaints are I felt that the upgrades kind of let me down. I purchased the game expecting to see a GT like upgrade system where I could purchase Tires, Exhaust systems, Power Commanders, Brake systems etc. However, the level of gear adjustment as well as the ability to adjust preload does not go unappreciated. I also was very disappointed when I saw the screen shake bug from GT had not been cured. I had pretty much forgotten all about it until now. Those two major complaints aside I felt the game provided something new to the genre of motorcycle racing games and I feel that the game was truly justifiable as a $40 some dollar purchase. The handling is very good and easy to adapt to. However, you will not find yourself running with the elite until you learn to use front and rear brakes independently. Learning to adjust gear ratios for each individual track also would not be a horrible idea. All that being said, if you own a motorcycle (of course with the exception of most cruiser and chopper types) I think you will more than likely find something to enjoy here. If you’re a fan of AMA, etc. I am sure you have probably already purchased it. I recommend at least renting it to pretty much everyone who is a fan of racing games as it will provide you at the very least a nuance of the racing feel you know and love so much.

On a final closing thought and what I feel is an important side note (from an owner’s perspective) "Long live the Kawi 636!"
