A 6600 GT
or
A 8500 GT
Money is not the issue here... Thanks
Uh, the 8500 GT sucks compared to the 7900GT (and it pretty much just sucks regardless of comparison), but both cards are obsolete. You should have gotten an Radeon HD 3850 for about $180. For $140 you got royally ripped off, sorry.
Also, your dad has no idea what he's talking about. XFX is one of the best GFX card brands and they have a great warranty.
I'm not sure what you're talking about with the 7x and 20x more powerful than integrated graphics, but it doesn't really make sense.
So yeah...I, uh, hope that helps. Just return that crappy 8500GT.

So do you have any card from NVDIA thats priced at around $140.That is good for gaming. Ihonestly dont understand graphic cards why does the 8500 GT suck compare to 7900 GT? Isn't the 8500 GT newer?
Ok so todaii I had to go downtown, and my dad bought me a new graphic card. He bought me the NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
Verto 512 MB. The card cost us $150 including the tax. My dilemma is, was it worth it? Or should I have gotten the 7900 which is
20x more powerful than the intel intergrated grpahics. The 8600 is only 7x more powerful... (what gives?) BTW the 7900 also costs
$150.
On a side note is it true that some manufactures produce cheap cards. I am asking this because my dad rather pay more for a
PCI or MSI than buy a XFX. My dad is an experianced technician and he says XFX is known to be unstable and crash often.
PS if anyone can advise me if there is an even better card in the $140 range. And how is the 7900 GT more powerful than the 8500 GT?
THX and have a good Holiday :P
