Started gaming back in the mid 80s when I was small. First system being NES and my favorite games that got me hooked were Mike Tyson's Punchout, Castlevania II, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and of course Contra. More than 25 years later, I still remember that damn Konami code.

One that I used to play when I was a kid but can't anymore would be Rise of the Triad because my original copy doesn't run on todays modern PC. Other than that, every game on every system growing up unfortunately can't hold my attention for more than 5 minutes anymore lol!!

Friday the 13th NES. I don't think it's possible to beat that one. Even going back to it nowadays still gets me nowhere.

I prefer the PC version for the same reason you like the PS1 better, it's what I grew up with. I spent many nights during my middle-school years playing the crap out of that game inside and out. I know it's pretty much the same game but it's the little things that make the difference, like the music that you mentioned for example. Also, I remember there was a couple levels that they modified for the PS1 version (I'm guessing it's most likely because the system couldn't support the original designs), and the results were not that great.

Not much is really different combat wise, arkham asylum just gives you more of the story leading up to certain events in the second game. Arkham city has a couple of new gadgets but that's about it. Asylum is definitely worth the money though, it's about the same length (campaign wise) as city is and in my opinion it's an overall better game.
