9th Person in the World to Hit 200/200 in Aegis Wing

About 14 hours after launch I have hit 200/200 in Aegis Wing the free Arcade game that was released last night, not only that but I am the 9th person worldwide to do so and the only British person to do so. Now that is an Achievement Unlocked moment!

The board still hasn't updated with my score but I will post a picture as soon as it does.

Lost Planet Extreme Mode Diary Part 2

Right I have gotten to the end of mission 4 now, not that hard and I loved that indoor bit where there is about 3 rolling Akrids, 3 mechs and a bunch of guys for me to destroy. Anyway on my first attempt at the boss I did pretty good almost killing him (maybe 1 or 2 more hits) but then he blew up my mech and once on foot there were so many explosions I couldn't see anything. The few attempts after that I just couldn't replicate my near success of the first time only getting him down to about and just under half life before dying. It just gets so crazy after he does that charging stinger move that I can't keep up. Well I will be giving it another shot today hopefully I can pass it this time.

Lost Planet Extreme Mode Diary

Ok, so I have started Extreme mode on Lost Planet anyone that has tried this mode will know how hard it is and for those who haven't, well yeah it is hard.
Anyways I am starting this blog late since I have already reached level 4. I didn't have that much trouble running through the first level but that first boss was pretty tough. I reached him with only 900 T-eng (yes that's right 900 only) as soon as the fight started I threw 2 grenades at the 2 smaller rolling enemies that come down on the right side then used the shotgun to finish them off. After that it was pretty easy to dodge the over two small ones while getting at distance from the main boss and throwing grenades to stop his roll and eventually killing the smaller two with more grenades and shotgun fire. All I had to do then was maintain my T-eng by shoot the eggs keeping goof distance from the boss and stunning him when he charges the roll then shotgunning his tail (repeat like 10 times).
I enjoyed the second level the amount of human enemies seemed to have increased and during that part in the train tunnel I got almost them all with sniper headshots.
Boss was again the highlight of the hardness, and being that they don't give you a mech this didn't make it easier. So this time around I made it in very good shape with just over 3000 T-eng at the boss fight. Here you must fight 2 regular walking mechs (the ones that have those shield that cover the pilot). a bunch of guys and the boss mech (the one that jumps real high). Again you don't have a mech of your own but since I made it with 20 rocket rounds I didn't really need one. First off I grabbed the mech shotgun from the busted VS that is right in front of where you start and made short work of the two mini boss mechs and a few of the guys by just spraying in their general direction. After that it was just a matter of keeping my T-eng high by busting the silos and hiding behind the snow covered building on the left hand side of the area, then hitting the boss with a rocket anytime I could.
Third level was over in no time. In extreme mode there are now 2 (count 'em 2) giant worms, however these didn't really cause much problems and actually never even touched me. There is also some of those large spider like Akrids between you and the boss warehouse. I managed to make it across on my first try killing two of the spider things on the way with my machine gun and topping off T-eny by shooting any cars or other things that contain some. This was by far the easiest boss, this time there is almost no difference from normal mode except your T-eny drains faster and you take more damage. I was able to get her down to half life in the mech before getting hit my that laser attack and being forced to eject. Then I finished her off with the rockets I had collected on the way over. Only took two attempts to beat .
Anyway I started level four but got an invite to play GEARS and accidentally went to the dashboard without saving my checkpoint, and I was half way through the level too!!!!!! So I guess I will try again tomorrow as it is 1:20am right now.

Made the Front Page on Heavy Weapon Leaderboards

I got 200/200 gamerscore on Heavy Weapon about 3 or 4 days after I downloaded the game. Anyways with that I was able to get myself on the front page of the mygamercard.net Heavy Weapons Leaderboards.

Check it out.

I am one of 252 people who have done so at the time of posting. And yes I know because my GamerTag begins with A that is why I on the front page but it is still cool.

Lumines Live VS CPU Pack

I just downloaded the new VS CPU pack for Lumines Live and I am a little disappointed. I have the PSP version and I remember those CPU player to be very hard in the upper levels and I honestly never got through them all, however I fired up the the game right after my VS CPU pack download had finished and blasted through them all (10 in total) with time of under 50secs each. Now for only 100 points it still seems like a pretty good deal but anyone buying it at full price has every right to be pissed off because it is over in about 10 minutes and has little replay value, the only thing you get out of it for the long run is new skins and characters (yeah cos the little picture make a difference :) ).
If you are a Lumines fan like myself grab this now because if you put it off and end up having to buy it at full price you will be kicking yourself silly.
On the up side level 6 or 7 (can't remember exactly) has a pretty cool skin to unlock.

Killzone

It is strange how handheld games can still grab and hold your attention. Lately I have been switching between playing GEARS online and Killzone on my PSP. Two games I have come to find are actually very similar, obviously the views and different and the fact that GEARS is a next gen console game gives it the graphics factor but gameplay wise you can use a lot of the same kind of tactics. Hell even the grenade system is almost the same and the fact that enemies go down to their knees when shot also both games even have an exploding crossbow, and finally both feature the so called "pop and drop" gameplay. Seriously anyone who likes GEARS should give Killzone on the PSP a try, I know that the first PS2 one wasn't SO hot but this is nothing like that.

These are the sorts of games Sony needs to be putting on the this platform, they need to relize that the PS2 ports just don't cut it, we want fresh new games on the go not just the same game we were playing at home watered down for portability.

One other thing before posting this, why is it there seem to be more and more unfinished games being released. The reason I bring this up when talking about Killzone is that during the coarse of the game you unlock stuff that must be downloaded using the PSP web browser through the Killzone PSP portal. Which is fine if it was finished yet! It has been about 2 and a half months since the game came out and still the site isn't ready. People who bought this game at launch were also promised added online functionality which still isn't done. You should be allowed to release a game in parts either it is done or it isn't and if it isn't then just push back the release date, people will not wait forever for the stuff that they were promised when they bought the game, by the time it is ready no one is going to care becase they have moved on from the game.

Gears of War Collector's Edition A Detailed Look

I just got back home with my copy of Gears CE, it was glued to my hand on the way home as I gawked at it's beauty. So what the hell am I doing here instead of playing the damn game. Well I told my friend that I would wait for him to get back from work so we can go through it together, yes I am a nice guy but that didn't stop me calling him up and performing the Cartman like "nah nah nah nah nah nah ha ha ha ha ha ha" chant.

So I thought that I would use this time to give you guys a good look at the Collectors Edition of the game. Once again please excuse the image quailty I really need to get a real digital camera.....

Gears box is just as beefy as the characters armor just look at the thickness.

The back offers a little info about the game as well as a list of what is included for that extra 10 bucks.

A clear window in the plastic sleeve allows you to see part of the image that is printed on the back of the tin. Here is Marcus and his crew ready to kick some ass.

Here is the tin out of the sleeve.

Close up you can see just how dark the tin really is. The red Gears symbol really stands out, you know that this is something special. You can't see it that well, but the words GEARS OF WAR are indented on the tin below the image so you can feel them if you run your fingers over it.

Inside the tin the first thing I saw was the concept artwork book, which details the period of time leading up to Emergence Day along with some very nicely drawn images of Earth's changes before and since that day. You can really see the GEARS OF WAR indent now

Here is everything that was in the box layed out. From left to right we have, the tin, the disc "booklet", a 48 hour Live online trial, the manual and then the artbook.

This is that game booklet that I mentioned above. It is a DVD sized cardboard case with both the game and the bonus DVD inside.

Close up of the artbook cover, very much like the tin it sports solid black backround with the red symbol stamped on it.

I don't want to get into trouble so I am posting only 1 pic of some of the artwork inside the book. This is a sketch of the emerging Locusts.

This is the back of the tin in full without the sleeve. Some very nice and detailed artwork of Marcus's crew and a larger face to face pic of Marcus and a Locust.

Here is that face to face again to give you a better look.

And that is the GEARS OF WARS Collector Edition. I hope that I can introduce you to my chainsaw online, see you there.

Logitech Banner

I got Photoshop 8 a week or so ago and I have been playing around with since. Finally actually made something with it, a Logitech banner. I have bought loads of Logitech stuff over the past few weeks that why I made it. Anyway I have posted it at the bottom here feel free to use it if you also are a heavy user of Logitech stuff too.

Bought My 150th Game today.

Yep I now have 150 games in my collection well I think that it is a little more than that (I have Driver for PSOne and GTA for the GBC that I never added) but according to my Gamespot collection list I hit 150 today, that is a crap load. And to think I have finished al most all of them. The game was FEAR for the 360 I went straight from work to pick it up and have been playing it since I got home. It is real good, I love sneaking up behind enemies and blowing them in two with the shotgun. I am finished up to Interval 8 and I'm off to the Secret Base or something now that was locked up and abandoned because of what happened there (you see it in the beginning vid of the game.

So it is 3 days until Emergence day (Gears of War launch day) as I am writing this and I am getting hyped liked crazy. If you haven't already seen I highly suggest going here and checking out this gif showing what the shotgun does up close to an enemy I have watched it like 100 times already. When I was at my games shop today they told me that they should be getting the Collectors Edition of the game so that is cool since I missed out on the CE of Splinter Cell DA cos they couldn't get one so I settled for the normal one. Anyway back to FEAR for a bit before I go to bed, so far I got 30 achievement points from it I think, I'm hoping to get the "kill very enemy in the game" one at the end.
