When's WiiU coming out? That system reeks of rush-job as well. Releasing systems before the other companies even announce new systems...could work out for them. But as you say, Sega did the same thing, and now Sonic sucks.[QUOTE="ANNIHILISM"][QUOTE="loveless9"]
I love Nintendo to death, but I'm willing to admit that the 3DS was a total rush job. Sega dominated the gaming market for a long time and remember what brought them down? Two rush jobs: the Sega Saturn and the Dreamcast. I doubt this blunder is going to destory Nintendo or anything, but I certainly hope that it makes them open their eyes a little bit and realize that they're not invincible.

Yeah, Sonic sucks.
One would assume that companies such as these would realize that releasing a product sooner in no way gives them an edge. First off, the market wasn't anticipating a new generation this soon. At the earliest most people were expecting maybe some sort of teaser next year with new consoles in 2013. We're not ready for the WiiU and we really don't care. I don't, and its not because I'm more of a Sony fan than a Nintendo one, its just...who cares, right? The fact that noone cares is going to give incentive for people to be like "Well, maybe I'll just wait and see what MS/Sony are going to release..." and that's going to hurt their sales. The only edge I can possibly see them having is the same one they've always had, and that's pricing. This will allow Nintendo to sell it high when it comes out and drop the price when the competition arrives, seems to work pretty well for them, even if the systems themselves are a tad lackluster. Another edge they have is with their first party stuff, but thats not affected by releasing this early. As far as Nintendo bowing out...I don't really see it. The market is changing, if anything, they'll just always be this little family-friendly video game company from here on out, making Pong consoles but with waggle, video controllers, and lots of Mario/Zelda/Kart racing.
