My History As A Gamer

So I launched my new site, JeremyDuenas.com, and the first major bit of content I added was a REALLY long complete history of my gaming habits. It was actually kinda cool to write, because I had to do research on some names (I couldn't remember what version of atari I had, the name of NES games, etc.).
So either keep reading, or if you'd like check it out on my site by clicking here.

I'm a bit of a gamer. It all started years ago in the 90's when I got an old Atari 2600 (I've always been a bit behind when it comes to what console I own...) and a bunch of games. I mostly played Pitfall, which apparently had a large impact on my life, because I can't remember any other Atari 2600 games I played. :|

Anyway, my next step in the world of gaming was into everyone's favorite...NES (Ninendo Entertainment System). My life was consumed by the Super Mario Bros. and their three adventures. When I got bored with those (which was rare, but sometimes happened), I played Duck Tales, Shake Rattle & Roll, and Mission Impossible. It was at this point that gaming grabbed me by the balls and said "Dammit, Jeremy! I own you. I am what you'll give up a social life for. I am that which you will play for hours and hours. I am your life." And I gladly said "okay. works for me".

My next video gaming obsession was Gameboy. Me and my brother got gameboy pockets for Christmas (his was red, mine was black). One of the first games I really got into was Pokemon Bue. Oh my God that game was/is/shall forever be addicting as crack. I swear the Japenese lace the catridges with crack, catnip, or kidnip or something... Anyway, my parents soon found out that I was using animals that evolve (although I'm pretty sure this wasnt the type of evolution Darwen had in mind) to fight evil channelers and psychics....That was the end of that for a while.

I quickly got over it, because we got a Nintendo 64. N64 was and still is my favorite console ever. It was so much fun. Mario Party, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Banjo Kazooie, Army Men, oh God giggidy it goes on forever. It only took me a week of owning an N64 to start talking trash about Playstation.

Then I got a Dreamcast for $20. It sucked. A lot. The only game I had for it was Tony Hawk's Proskater 2 (or was it 1...I can't rememeber to be honest). A month later I sold it to a friend for $15. I felt bad because I should've sold it to him for way less. Like $5...or maybe less.

Then I got my beloved Playstation 2 for Christmas 2003. There were only three games on the PS2 that thoroughly consumed my life. No game to this day has consumed so much of my time/energy as these three have. Tony Hawk's Proskater 4, Tony Hawk's Underground (aka THUG), and Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (THUG2). I literally spent EVERY day of my summer break in 2004 playing THPS4 from 9 to 4 online. Through that game I made some awesome friends, most of which I'm still friends with. Everytime a new game would come out, me and my group of 5 or 6 friends would "graduate" to the next game together. But by THUG2 we'd lost some people and then Tony Hawk's American Wasteland came out and...yeah...that was the end of that. Also, owning my PS2 sparked another bit of fanboydom. I talked about how much XBOX sucked WAY too much. I didn't even know what I was talking about. I'd never played one, but dammit I hated it anyway!

My next purchase was my first console that I payed for all on my own. I bought a black Gamecube for $99 at gamestop. Biggest waste of money ever. I played Animal Crossing for like two weeks and sold the game. Then I pwn'd Zelda: Wind Waker. And then that was that. I haven't really played it since. Mostly because the only game I've got left is Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life... >.>

Shortly after I wasted $80 on a Gameboy Advance SP. Like the Gamecube, I have barely used it. Of course, this has a lot to do with the fact that I played like every good GBA game via emulation on my computer and had no need to play them again on a GBA....But shhh. Don't tell the government I said that. And if the government is reading this... JK, guys. JK.

My most recent video gaming purchase is my XBOX 360. And oh how I love it. Ironically, I swore to God I would never buy an XBOX (the original), but then a year later I turned around and bought its successor. Although the exact same thing happened with the Playstation 2. I love my xbox 360 so much that spent $250 extra to buy a 24 inch TV so I could see all of its awesomeness. This proved to be well worth it when I bought Gears of War, which blows my mind, eyes, and liver everytime I play it.

And on top of all of that, I've been known to play the occasional PC game. Favorites include Age of Empires II: The Conquerers, Sim City 4, Sims 2, Halo, Unreal Tournament, and sadly...Maple Story.
