PS3 vs. XBOX 360 - Games Part 2

Sorry for the really long wait. I was going to wait a little longer to post the PS3 Games blog as I was close to finishing 2 huge PS3 exclusives. Well let's continue where we left off. The PS3 is a console i think is more suited for exclusives rather than multiplatform games, especially ones with multiplayer. There's one reason, and that is that my friends all have 360s making it alittle boring to play multiplatformers on PS3 for me. This may not be a porblem for others. Having that said, the PS3 has the best exclusives I believe out of the 2. One prime example is this year's GOTY recipent form many sites, Uncharted 2. Once you load up the single player in this game, you will be sucked in. Calling it cinematic is a understatement. This game has the best single player I have ever played in any game which has multiplayer aswell. From climbing up a train dangling thousands of feet up from the bottom, to solving a puzzle which quickly turns into a shootout for your life, there is no better singleplayer experience. The Scary thing about this game is that its online play is just as good. The multiplayer gives you countless hours of fighting it out online for treasure to fighting off hordes in a Gears of War like co-op mode. This leads me to Killzone 2. Let's just say Killzone 2 is what happens when COD 4 and Gears of War 2 have an affair. The Gameplay is just like that of COD but with a strategic aspect with the GOW 2 like cover system. The story may lack some, but it is made up for with the online play. It has a similar approach like COD in which you level up and unlcok guns to change classes with. If these games are too violent for you, then why not try Little BIg Planet. An amazing game to play alone becomes even better online with friends. Just imagine Mario jumping ships to the Sony side, and add online play and level designing to the mix. Also, family gamers should look for any Ratchet and Clank game. I have spent my childhood playing Up Your Arsenal and Going Commando. Now with my PS3 i can play those and the 2 PS3 exclusives. All are great games with lots of good platforming and gunplay, with whacky guns. Last, but surely not least, is Metal Gear Solid 4. Universally known as THE single player experience of a lifetime, it has many great aspects. ONe can go in guns blazing, or can go through sneakily, without killing anyone at all. Whichever way you chose you will ahve a fun adventure, finding new ways to solve puzzles, sneaking through a enemy infested ship or finding different ways to defeat enemies that try messing with you physically and mentally. Gun collecting is also a major part of this game, as is completing challenges. Only skilled players can beat the game on it's highest difficulty without continuing or killing an enem once. Did i mention not even using health items? With all these challenges you'll be sucked in and won't be able to leave, especially once you've beat the game a million times, nd figure out there's online aswell.

All in all i belive the PS3 is better in the exclusives department. Stay tuned for my soon to be reviews of Bioshock 2, MAG, and my delayed reviews of UNcharted 2 and Borderlands.

PS3 vs. XBOX 360 - Games Part 1

An age old dispute, which is the better system? There are many things one needs to know about a console before judging it. Today I will be looking into exclusives on both systems. First the 360. To me, what defines the 360 is the Gears of War franchise. Gears of War is a third-person shooter as many of you probably know. The first one delivered a strong single player with a nice last second multiplayer added. The game's use of the cover system is undescribable. It sets a standard for shooters, third and first-person. Next is Halo. Halo is one of the most popular franchises in the world. When the original was released, it took people by storm, even if it did not include multiplayer. The second made an ok single player experience, but excelled as one of the top played multiplayer games out there. The third did the same as the second, but not as satisfyingly. They then released ODST. It was fun to experience Halo through an ODST's viewpoint, but it felt like the franchise was just juicing everything left out of the first three. The final franchise we will talk about today from the 360 side is Left 4 Dead. It was majorly hyped, and delivered. It brought a new way of playing a game competitively. You could play as either survivors, or one of four special zombies. The second one was even better, adding new weapons and items to advance past the first one.

I hope you enjoyed the first part of this blog and check back tommorow for part 2.
