hi i am new to pc gaming. i just recently found out about xfire. then i found out about gamespy arcade and comerade. can somebody what they are in detail? like what are they? and what kind of service do they provide? and what are benefits of each? which one would you recommend i get because i really do not feel like creating three different accounts for things that serve the same purpose. they look like a pc version of xbox live to me but that is about all i could figure out. are these the only ones of their kind or are there more and better ones? a lot of user's sigs have a xFire logo on them. that is how i found out about them. thnx in advance.

[QUOTE="kilaan"]You can't just put in a sound card and have sound magically appear without having an audio output (aka speakers/headset.) The way you described your Dell 1 of two things were probably in place (maybe even both) 1) Sound coming out of your monitor : There was an audio cable that went from your monitor to the back of the sound card on your Dell 2) Sound coming from your case : You had an internal speaker in your desktop aka this link right here.... http://www.startech.com/category/parts/pc-speakers/list.aspx There should be an internal cable you can plug from these speakers to the Soundcard. Read your manual on your soundcard to find out where this internal output is.

i think it was coming from the case in my last dell. my case had a wire labeled SPEAKERS but i plugged it to the sound card. i think it is the on board audio device interfering with the sound card. i have no idea what to do

[QUOTE="Aditya21"][QUOTE="Bebi_vegeta"]

Well where was the sound coming out before you built this PC?

Bebi_vegeta

i built the pc from scratch so i never got sound on it other than when i used headphones

Then... just use your headphones...

You're not going to get sound without speakers.

my last dell computer did not have extrenal speakers but it was still able to get audio without headphones

[QUOTE="Aditya21"]I just built my first pc but i cant seem to get any sound on it. i do not have any external speakers but that never stopped me grom getting audio before. i should be able to get audio from the monitor or the tower case. i have audio drivers from the motherboard as well a soundblaster soundcard. i installed the soundblaster soundcard software as well as the realtalk hd audio manager software that came with my nvidia motherboard cd. i don't have any external speakers so i have to use headphones to get any sound but it is a hassle. any help would be appreciated. thnx in advanceBebi_vegeta

[QUOTE="Daytona_178"][QUOTE="Aditya21"][QUOTE="Daytona_178"] Right click on my computer and select properties select device manager click on the + next to sound and if it has a little ! symbol next to it then its not installed properly!

i just checked. there is no ! next to anything. i can see both my on board audio device as well as the audigy soundblaster sound card. so im guessing they are both properly installed

Thats correct!
