People may hate it but it's one of the only PvP game out there where you will see 50+ vs 50+ fighting over keeps/forts/objectives. It's the only MMO where you can push zones towards the other realms capital city then invade it and kill the king in front of their face. Plus, it has the most(and most creative) scenario's (ala WoW Battlegrounds) of any MMO, with weekend events(every weekend) featuring new or adjusted versions of scenarios.
If you want PvE.. it is lacking but does have the Tome of Knowledge- a very interesting way to track your lore and progress; Public Quests that are very fun in t1/4(empty in t2/3 but fun if you find group!), Open Parties for quick groups, massive LotD PvE zone, and dungeon progression in the form of armor wards(no raids though...) From June producer's letter: "We hear these requests loud and clear, and it is our desire to give you a better sense of WAR's long term plan by the end of summer. Our detractors like to make fun of us for "being really excited" and "itching to tell you about" some "really cool things" (yes, we read the snarky posts), and in this case we want to shout it from the rooftops…but not just yet." ". . .but I want to highlight one more significant feature. With 1.3.6, we will be introducing a new feature, called Against All Odds, a rewards incentive program that will reward outnumbered armies within an RVR lake by offering a scaling bonus to experience, renown, and influence, up to 400% for the outnumbered realm. We think that with bonuses this high, you'll see a lot more people willing to engage in all different types of ORVR, especially when the odds are stacked against them."
