New My Yahoo mandatory

About a week ago, the old version of My Yahoo was completely phased out in favor of the new version. After using it for a week, I've gotten used to it. One problem, though: I can't seem to find a way to get to the notepad from the main page. If anyone else out there uses My Yahoo, did I miss something?

"Happy" April Fool's Day!

On tonight's X-Play, Adam Sessler raised a good point: "What happened to the tradition of April Fool's jokes being funny?" Maybe it's my cynicism talking, but it seems that nowadays, celebrating April Fool's Day means changing your website to make it look like someone else's or saying you're ending your site or reporting obviously false news. And in a phoned-in, easy-to-tell way. It's all online these days, no one tries to pull anything in real life (as far as I know). Not that some people CAN'T pull it off well. About the only good and funny attempt at this, in fact the only funny joke I've seen all day, was gaming news blog Destructoid changing their site to a Fox News blog. ("We blame, you agree.") But maybe I'm biased because I think Fox News is one of those things that's always funny to make fun of. Like Scientology. Speaking of Fox News, Gamepolitics, another gaming news blog, didn't pull any jokes but showed a screenshot of game-hatin' jackass Jack Thompson on Fox News, the only media outlet that still pretends (or actually thinks?) Jack has any credibility. The screenshot shows Jack with the title of "First Amendment attorney". It's from an appearance last week, so it's not actually an April Fool's joke, but as GP notes, to anyone who knows what Jack is like, it really seems like one. The Adventures of Dr. McNinja had an obviously fake twist. It was also funny, but because it was Dr. McNinja, which is always funny anyway, and not for the actual April Fool's joke itself. VG Cats made fun of Ctrl-Alt-Del. Y'know, just like everyone else. Everyone talks too much and has the same face. It's been done. VGC is normally hilarious, but this was just everything everyone says about CAD said once more. At least the part about CAD using one of VGC's gags was funny. That is, I'm assuming that was the point of that comparison. YouTube Rickroll'd the featured videos. I didn't think people still did that. I probably would've been caught off guard had I not been warned in advance by SomethingAwful. And if I actually regularly (or ever) looked at the featured videos. A rather obstructive joke, though. I mean, you can still see the actual videos by going to the user channels, but it needlessly complicates things. The Zelda movie trailer. I first heard about it as being a joke anyway, then saw it on X-Play. Meh. I suppose all that's left is whatever Adult Swim is doing tonight, if anything. And if they do, hopefully it'll be better than just adding fart sounds. EDIT: Okay, so they dudn't do anything. I guess since they cut anime from weeknights, they didn't have anything they wanted to make fun of.

Another free stuff site

I found another site like Gaming Lagoon where you can get free stuff. It's called Winzy. You can win Amazon.com gift cards, iPods, XBox 360s, and more. It's easier to work with, as you just have to use their search engine repeatedly in order to get stuff. If you have some auto-reloader thing on your browser, that makes it even easier. However, winning stuff on this site is more luck-based. I've managed to get some gift cards out of it, though, so I know it works.

So Brawl's out in the US (FC added)

And I've finally been able to tear myself away from the game long enough to write this. This was the second time I've gone to a late-night release of something game-related. The first time was when I got my Wii a week after the launch. I went to Best Buy at 4:00 in the morning to wait in line for it until 9:00. Fortunately, someone got donuts and shared them with the other people in line. There was considerably less waiting this time - just an hour and a half. I left at 10:30 (after One Piece) and it was a midnight release. At one point, I realized that I'd forgotten to bring the two games I wanted to trade in to reduce the price to just $10, and I had to go back home and get them. It's a good thing there wasn't a long line at the time. Anyway, game's awesome. If you have a Wii, get it if you haven't already. My friend code is: 0044-2514-5481 If you add me, leave a comment or send me a PM. Unfortunately, my Wii sucks at staying connected, and has a nasty tendency to cut the connection for no good reason whatsoever (which makes watching YouTube videos on the Internet channel difficult), so I can't guarantee I'd be able to get through a whole fight. I can still send custom stages and stuff, though. Also, my Wii number is a few posts down (or if you're a friend and viewing from Gamespot, it's on the right side of the page), if you want to add that too.

So Brawl's out in Japan

A few days ago, Super Smash Bros Brawl was released in Japan. What I don't get, though, is why there's such a huge gap between the Japan release and the US release. Looking at the updates on the official site, it looks like the translation was being done during the development, and that they should still be released pretty close to each other. I mean, Mario Galaxy only had about a gap of about a week. Before the most recent delay, the US release was early February, and the Japan date was apparently still in the second half of January. But at any rate, now it's out in Japan, and everyone with a modded Wii or an imported Japanese Wii or whatever is going to import it (if there's any available, as I've heard there was a shortage of supply) and spoil everything about it all over the Internet. Granted, I already know the playable roster and the stages. That's not what matters to me. What I want to avoid spoilers for is the story mode. Y'know, beyond the first few cutscenes already shown on the Dojo. So for the whole next month, I have to tread carefully on certain sites I frequent, like Mario Wiki. It's like trying to avoid Phoenix Wright 3 spoilers all over again (which I'm still doing because I STILL don't have that game either).

Merry Christmas! (also, Wii Code)

Merry Christmas, everyone! I spent most of my Christmas at a party at my mom's house. I watched A Christmas Story (TBS was running a marathon), Ratatouille (my sister brought her DVD), and the best Christmas movie ever, Die Hard. I got a few video games: Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, DK Jungle Climber, Rayman: Raving Rabbids 2, and Tingle's Rupeeland. I also got a cool-looking Zelda T-shirt, snacks (in my stocking), and lots and lots of socks. I don't know if anyone else does this, but every year, half of my stocking is full of socks. So, now that Christmas has come, I'm guessing some people have gotten a Wii. So, for the friends I've made here, here's my Wii code if you've got one and want to add me: 1726 1641 4703 1760 If you add me, leave a comment or send me a message.

Site with free gaming stuff

I found this site where you can get free video game accessories, like controllers. You can also get free XBox Live points, Wii points, or other points. It's called Gaming Lagoon. It's legit, and I got some Wii points from it so I can attest that it works.

Goin' to GameSpot

I figured I'll start hanging around GameSpot too. Probably not very much, though.

I won't be able to update my GameSpot game list, since the system for doing so sucks, so if you want to see my game collection, here's my list from IGN, where it actually works.

Update: Okay, so it suddenly decided to work. I've updated my collection, but the IGN list is still better and more accurate.

Allow me to introduce myself

Note: I'm posting this from TV.com, in case you're viewing it from GameSpot or something.

Yo! I'm Agent CH, fan of video games, anime, and westerm animation. My banner includes some of my favorite characters from some of my favorite series. I'm also known as CodeHunter Josh (or CH Josh for short).

I've been coming to TV.com since back when it was known as TV Tome. I've had an account since 2005, but didn't start coming here regularly until a few weeks ago, and that's mostly because the NSider forums were taken down. And it took me this long to just introduce myself. Here, I pretty much hang out on just the One Piece board. It's my favorite show. I also hang around YouTube and the TV Tropes Wiki.
