Pick 5: The Poverbial Desert Island

Apparently, this desert island has electricity and broadband internet. So, that's a plus within itself! Anyway here's my list.

1. Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World (SNES)
Yes, I know it's technically cheating because this could be the 5 games all by itself. But since Nintendo so graciously put them all on 1 cartridge (and because this desert island has electricity, a TV, and whatever systems I can think of) I figured, why not? In addition to having my favorite Mario game of all time as a bonus, it also has the first 3 Mario games, plus the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2 (a.k.a. The Lost Levels). Again, why not?

2. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Why? The game has 10+ endings, it has a "New Game +" feature that allows you to keep all of your characters stats from a previously finished game. That insures that you don't have to start all the way from the very beginning if you don't want to. I absolutely loved the storyline of this game. And, did I mention, it's one of my favorite games of all-time?

3. Web Sudoku (PC)
I guess the inclusion of this means that I have at least sometype of internet and a computer on this desert island, which already makes it extremely liveable (except where's the food?). Sudoku is highly addictive, if you didn't know, follow the link and start playing. It would be a real sad day when I get through every single last puzzle on that site, but even if I did I most likely wouldn't remember the solutions to all of them. That makes it perfect for the desert island.

4. Tetris DX (GBC)
I'm not going to explain the inclusion of Tetris on a list like this. If you haven't played any version of Tetris in your life, then you have been deeply deprived and need to seek one out immediately. I chose DX because it's my favorite version and you can literally play this game for years.

5. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (GBA)
I chose this game because I haven't finished it yet, and being on a desert island would give me plenty of opportunity. Plus, the whole kinstone fusion thing would give me plenty to do other than the main quest. I found myself sometimes just doing that in the game before turning it off.

Pick 5: Games I Haven't Played but I Should

1. Half Life 1 & 2 (PC)
2. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64)
3. Final Fantasy X (PS2)
4. Resident Evil 4 (GC)
5. Kingdom Hearts II (PS2)

There are many games that I haven't played that I probably should have. I'm just gonna quickly rundown the 5 most recent blaring omissions from my game playing experience. Honestly, there may not be an excuse good enough for me not having played these games.
I like first person shooters, and the Half Life series is the cream of the crop, so I've heard.
I may not have finished them all, but I've at least played my fair share of Zelda & Final Fantasy games. I just skipped over Majora and FFX, and I don't know how it happened.
Lots of people around me have told me how great RE4 is, and I've seen it for myself and enjoyed watching it. I've even borrowed it from a friend, but only played about 5 minutes of it. I need to fix that.
The only reason I haven't played Kingdom Hearts II is because I haven't bought it yet. I absolutely loved the first game, and have heard nothing but good things about this one. I'm looking forward to getting the chance to play it.

Pick 5: games I have in my collection b/c I think it makes me look cool

In no real order:

1. God of War (PS2)
2. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (XBOX)
3. Metal Gear Solid VR Missions (PS)
4. Metroid Prime (GC)
5. Ninja Gaiden Black (XBOX)

I bought God of War and KOTOR off of a friend of mine for about $30. I had already rented KOTOR and thought it was an entertaining game, and quite possibly one of the best games for XBox. I bought them with the full intention of playing through them, but as of this entry I have not completed either game. I haven't even touched KOTOR except to move the case out of the way to get to other games I've played since buying it. However, it makes me feel good to know that I have those two games.
I was so happy when I found MGS: VR Missions that I didn't know what to do with myself. I basically paraded the fact that I had that game around to a friend of mine (since he's an MGS fan, and that game has been hard to find where I live). I picked it up mostly out of interest, the fact that it was rare (and cheap!), and my love for MGS as well. (Yes, I have played this game.)
A friend of mine let me borrow Metroid Prime for a while, and I absolutely enjoyed it. Then he took it back. I never played it again, but then just recently picked it up for the mere fact that it is one of the best games for Game Cube. I've only played it for about 5 mins. since I bought it.
Ninja Gaiden Black is just seriously a casualty of my going off to school without my XBox. I was playing that game up until I left pretty much and have never really picked it back up. This is just another game I got to have another premiere title for a system that I have.
I love all of these games, and feel very fortunate in one way or another that I have them, which is why I think their very presence in my collection makes me look cool.

Completed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

A friend of mine let me borrow his copy after I told him that I had never played the game before. He told me that it was a crime that I hadn't played SOTN. (By the way, not only had I not played SOTN, I hadn't played any Castlevania games before) Since he put it like that, I decided to borrow the game from him. That had to be one of the best decisions I've made (entertainment wise) so far in 2005.
After getting home and playing the game for a good amount of time, I found myself to be absolutely mesmerized by the game, and I couldn't put the controller down. Wherever this game was going to take me I was totally willing to go. I got to the point where I had to own this game for myself, so I went out and purchased a copy while I was still borrowing my friend's copy. This game had me absolutely hooked. So after over 15 hours of playing time and 197.0% of the game completed, I can say that I've had a very fun time playing this game. I have seen all 4 of the game's endings, I have searched through almost every inch of both castles, and I don't think there's a problem with that (do you?).
This game has made me a Castlevania fan. I just played Lament of Innocence at a another friend's house yesterday and I'm sold on that game now too. And this is all because SOTN just drew me in. Bottom line: If you haven't already played this game, go and play it right now!!!
